The Major was pelted with wind and rain as he dragged himself by his nails from the downed Lambda shuttle. “I’ve never seen a storm so bad.”
He looked at his chronometer and noticed the time.
“Crap, we have to be at the rendezvous point at 0900, and it’s ten past. Sergeant, order the men, fast walk, marching column to the check point just south of the lake.”
“10-4, Major.” The Sergeant swung around toward the 100 or so men who had survived the crash and took a huge gulp of air. “Right you heard the Major, double-time to the rendezvous, assault column. NOW!”
The men were battered and bruised but this was nothing that the Rebels had not seen or experienced before. These men were veterans, they could take it.
The column quickly took shape, “One-Two, One-Two, One-Two-Three-Four. Come on you slimey dogs, I want good order in my formation.” The Sergeant continued to scream at them.
A battle-hardened private towards the front began to sound off a cadence. Major Quinal at that point knew that the soliders’ hearts were truly in this fight.
Up ahead only about one-click away was the rendezvous point, but the troops could see what appeared to be lightning flashes and explosions in the distance.
“Lads. We free our brothers on this force-forsaken rock. Fight your hearts out and your will be remembered.” Shouted the Major charismatically.
A huge roar from the men could be felt and heard, like a bomb against a star-destroyers hull plating.
“Make ready, break up into formations, Alpha and Bravo sections, middle, Charlie, Right Flank, keep it tight. Echo and Delta. Push hard and fast down the left flank. I want their support cut off.”
After a large acknowledgment from the men, they quickly broke formation and moved to their respective positions. Awaiting for the word to move.
“FIRE at WILL!”
