Simeon floated in the bacta tank thinking over the last mission.

The dunking was precautionary so he should be out soon, but damn that mission had been a tester.

The T/A pilots had pushed him really hard, he had taken one out but still the T/Is and Fs were all over the bombers and transports, and with the T/As sticking to him like mynocks he hadn't been able to cover the op and all units for the attack on the cap ships were lost, it didn't sit well at all.

After a shower to clear of the bacta Simeon went for a meal, only stopping long enough to say hi to several pilots he knew before heading back to his quarters to try and get the negativity out of his system, things like this happen, you get isolated by good pilots while the enemy took the attack force apart.

His report for his CO took a while to work on but several glass of corellian whiskey helped the writing process.

By typing up his report it helped to excise some of his feelings on the mission, reviewing his camera footage helped to reassure him he had done what he was able, though it didn't feel anywhere near enough, seems like some hard time in the simulators will be needed to lift Simeon's skills to a level that can compete against elite Imperial pilots.

That said though, Simeon reflected, the T/I pilots and T/F pilots weren't all that great, but were certainly determined, and against bombers had little in the way of opposition to challenge them until it was too late, Simeons X-W isolated and the A-W arriving after the bombers had a hard time catching up and taking on the TIEs.

Next time I'll have to stick with the bombers and give cover, because myself and my wingman went head first we got pulled away and taken apart. Not something I want to repeat.

And next time he wouldn't have a dozen TIEs on his tail trying to bounce him on his way out, he wouldn't leave that many flying to make that an issue again.

Simeon was pretty glad that he didn't have to pay for the trashed X-Wing he'd ejected from.
