ITOD: OP 14: Death Star Trench Run
Briefing
- Alliance scientists and engineers have analyzed the captured technical readouts of the Death Star. They believe they have uncovered a [weak spot] that makes it vulnerable to attack.
Along the equator of this huge artificial moon is a narrow trench. At the end of this trench is a small [exhaust outlet port] which reaches all the way to the reactor core at the center of the battle station.
Our scientists believe that a[ proton torpedo] fired directly into this exhaust port could cause a [chain reaction] that would destroy the entire Death Star.
[Nav Buoys] have been placed on the Death Star surface where previous attacks have cleared away the Turbolaser Towers. Follow the buoys to the trench, turn [left] and descend into the trench. Your R2D2 unit will then boost your engine speed.
Your increased speed will improve your chances of surviving this hazardous mission. Destroy the [gun emplacements ]on the floor and walls of the trench before they can fire at you. The exhaust port is located at the end of the trench. Watch your [targeting computer] for when the exhaust port comes into range of your proton torpedoes.
