New Trassk --- Disturbing news from the Osiris Sector, with confirmed reports that the RS's main centre of operations in the sector has been locked down by the Fleet Commander after a virulent strain of hive virus infected and led to the deaths of the entire crew of the New Trassk orbital station.

Two days ago the RS Fleet Commander took the Victory Star Destroyer Peril to the distant outpost in the Osiris Sector to investigate a distress call originating from the station. Upon arrival the Fleet Commander's forces were reportedly fired upon briefly by the station before the guns fell silent.

Investigation of the station's interior revealed that the entire crew had become infected with a virulent strain of hive virus. This strain of the virus caused widespread pathological insanity, with reports that all of the approximately three thousand crew manning the station were killed by each other when the virus’s symptoms activated.

Reports of modern cases of hive viruses are exceptionally rare nowadays, as medical developments in the final years of the Old Republic pushed the virus to near-extinction. In the years before the Clone Wars, however, hive viruses were a major galactic concern, as entire localised populations could be infected before the symptoms would activate simultaneously.

The presence of a confirmed case of hive virus in our region of space is highly unusual and unfortunate given the fact that today's medicine is more than adequate to cure infected persons before the adverse effects take hold completely. It seems likely that the crew of the New Trassk installation were unaware of the infection before it was too late.

Funeral services for the men and women who valiantly served on the station are not planned for any time in the near future, due to the Fleet Commander's order. Word from the Fleet Commander's office has stated that the current climate of lawlessness in the local regions are not conducive to properly honouring the dead, and that funeral operations will not take place until law and order has been properly re-established in the Cadrel Expanse, Greeop Sector and surrounding territories.

No timetable has been revealed regarding when such a time would be, so it may be that the once-proud RS station in the Osiris Sector will be quarantined and off-limits for quite some time.
