Imperial Systems Fall
Maxite belt --- New Republic forces in the Subterrel Sector have struck another major blow in the war against the Empire with the complete destruction of Imperial facilities and system defences in the Maxite asteroid belt of the Oxion system. Admiral Raven's Subterrel Strike Force was spectacularly triumphant: two Victory Star Destroyers and escorts fell before the New Republic attack force.
But the SSF suffered losses of their own; the Corellian gunship Bayonet was destroyed in the fighting, as well as numerous fighters. Memorial services for the lost crew and the historic vessel are reportedly being held in secret, as the SSF remains on the move in an attempt to evade Imperial patrols. The loss of the Bayonet was especially felt amongst the commanding officers in the SSF who have fought alongside the crew of the Bayonet in many triumphant occasions in the past.
Rear Admiral Himm El-Syna is especially angered, and has publicly expressed his solidarity with all pilots of the former Intrepid Starfighter Group, asking them to remember the exploits of the proud ship and its noble crew, and to let their martyrdom drive them on in the vanquishing of the enemy who would seek to fell such examples of New Republic pride and dignity.
Despite the losses incurred, the successful operation is a welcome turnaround for the SSF after several setbacks and defeats of their own. According to a representative for Admiral Raven, the end is approaching for Imperial aspirations in the Subterrel Sector, as one by one the SSF will take out every base and starship the enemy arrays against them.
