Sluis Van --- Breaking news today, as we have received word that just hours ago an attack was made on New Republic forces within the orbit of Sluis Van. Home to the extensive Sluis Van Shipyards, the system has long been a strategic hub for both commercial trading and the military sector, and has seen larger than normal levels of traffic in the wake of recent events, such as the simultaneous attacks in the Sluis Sector last month.

New Republic defence forces, already stretched thin to respond to increased threats throughout the Outer Rim had been further tasked with providing escorts to ensure the safety of shipping on the Sluis Sector trade lanes. It is believed a number of warships had also been pressed into service as makeshift freighters to re-establish trade in the region.

Details regarding the extent of damage from the attack remain few, but we have news that General Solo was on site to co-ordinate the defences when the attack began. Despite this, we have received several unconfirmed reports that numerous military vessels were left burning or dead in space. If true, this will prove to be yet another devastating blow to both morale and the appearance of New Republic influence over the territories of the Outer Rim.
