The Greeop Defence Force (GDF) has stepped up patrols of the Greeop Sector and Cadrel Expanse due to increased militant attacks in the region, especially in anticipation of the upcoming Festival of Stars. Although authorities have urged caution during the annual celebration of intersteller travel in these troubled times, the space traffic and turn-out to celebrations galaxy-wide is expected to be as strong as ever.

"Of course, we have no intention of stopping people from enjoying themselves and visiting new places, but with all the recent attacks on civilian shipping and our military defenders themselves, we strongly suggest that people exercise due caution when taking part in festival activities," President Aluin of Tarsonis stated in a press conference just prior to the opening of festivities. "We would prefer that people do not undertake any unnecessary risks during the festival."

In response, Admiral Astoris of Task Force Republic Shield has pledged to cover as many checkpoints and hyperspace jump points throughout the sector as is feasible to protect civilians throughout the festival week. "We will make sure that every citizen here in the Greeop Sector and the Cadrel Expanse can enjoy themselves, as this is a week of special significance. To stay at home with the starship locked up would only show the hostiles that they have defeated us, if not in truth then certainly in our minds."

Ceremonies were held for the crews of two freighters lost in a militant raid on a convoy bound for Tarsonis last week, underlining just how dangerous it can currently be to travel throughout the region. The prevailing public mood is, however, that such attacks will not impact the turnout for this year's Festival of Stars.
