Person: FA Sienn "The Rot" SconnLoading . . .
Medal: Excellency of Service
Date: February 25, 2012
Nominated by: FA Joshua Hawkins
Awarded by: FA Joshua Hawkins
Reason for nomination: To Quote Raven:
I wish to nomination Admiral Sienn "The Rot" Sconn for the distinguished Excellency of Service medal. I understand that this is the most prestigious non-combat medal that the Rebel Squadrons can award, and offer the following to support the nomination:
For many years now, Admiral Sconn has been a vital part of the Roleplaying Division of the Rebel Squadrons as my executive officer. I initially chose him for a variety of reasons.
Frankly, he's an asshole. He makes his opinion known, has passion for things he truly believes in, and sticks with his guns as long as he believes that he is right. It's a great trait to have in an officer, especially an officer who has to deal with the varied situations that come up in our roleplaying. He has, time and time again, served as my 'harsher side' and 'devil's advocate', and ultimately I think it has done tremendous good for the universe that we have built. He has diligently served through the years, helping to refine our ruleset and make a lasting impression with his characters, mannerisms, and attitude. Through RL difficulties, a marriage, and other assorted issues, he has always put his responsibilities foremost in his mind. He has served for many years, outlasting the unit's initial founders, various people who rose like shooting stars only to die out, and has been a mentor to nearly every person who has participated in the ABG.
Speaking personally, I have found Sconn to be inspirational.
Many may not agree with me, others are reading this going "What the fu--?" but he has many traits that put him above and beyond a normal member of anyone's command staff.
He is fiercely loyal. He has always been willing to jump in front of a bus to help out. He has always been there to support the command staff in any way that he can, even if he didn't agree with the concept/idea he was defending 100%.
He is dedicated. At times, we would get into fierce mathematical arguments, something that is assuredly not his strong point. He would bear with me while we rent through hours of calculations and number crunching to provide thoughtful and informed feedback. If ever there was something he did not know or did not understand, he went out of his way to learn it.
He was always willing to help. New member? Old Member? No problem. If you had something that you needed and he was around, he'd always be one of the first to volunteer to take time out of his day and assist with anything needed.
I have tried through the years to emulate some of these traits in my command style, and I feel as if my continued success and patience as the roleplaying coordinator has been developed in no small part because of him.
On a personal note, Sconn has been a person who I could always look up to. He has, time and time again, brought a level-headed and unique perspective to everything he touches. He has been able to juggle a RL marriage, his job as RS XO, and his duties as the Roleplaying XO with tremendous results. I will honestly miss having him on my command staff.
I truly feel that this level of dedication should be celebrated, and the highest non-combat award that the RS can provide him is the least that I can do.
I will happily and without hesitation stake my name, reputation, and my honor on this nomination, as I feel Sconn is someone who deserves to be rewarded for everything he has done.
