-----Patriot Battle Fleet News-----

Note:: I am not on Wildcard CO's, you got this in the PBFCO list,
please forward it down.

1) Missing Items---
Reminder that you all need to check out the Missing Items section at
the end of each NL announcements. This past month there were two
pilots wo obviously didn't and their scores were consequently not
counted. You were warned.

2) Delayed scoring results---

I must appologize. I know that I promised that the results would be out this time, but I am still having some major issues at home. I just got back from my vacation a few days ago, and this is the first bit of free time I've had, hence the slight delay of this nl. I have been trying to get on our home computer to access my xwing scoring program, but my father has been on it constantly to try and fix it. I also can't remember the addy of the site to dl the program onto disk, so untill I can get it off my home comp, the scores are stuck in my folders. I have them, just not done yet. I ask you all to bare with me, this was an un-expected turn of events.

3) Computer Virus---

Within the last week, my home computer has "caught a cold". We are not really sure what it is, but it is severly hampering my comp, to
the point where I can only be on for a few minutes at a time. I
havn't been able to update the scores yet, because my father and I
are trying to figure out what is wrong. But the results will be
released in the next nl, you'll just have to wait till then.

4) LOA---
In a couple weeks, I'll be going on a slightly longer LOA. I am moving soon, and that will be eating up a ton of time, not to mention a shortage of time to get into a computer lab. During that time, Petr Margul will be acting CO. There is still a week or two before this happens, and I will remind you all up untill that very day.
.

5) PBF 306---
It was brought to my attention that some of you may not realize 306 is out. It was in last weeks nl, and was attached. The due date remains the same, so get a movin.

6) RS and PBF page updates---
If you havn't heard by now, a lot has been changed. Take a look at
the new RS page, very nicely improved. Also take a look at the PBF
page. Fion did some updating the other day, including the general
info page, which now contains a completely detailed imperial roster,
plus the new OOB for the PBF. Also, not at the bottom of the page
is the intel report for PBF 306. I highly advise you take a look at
it and read up.

7) Green Squadron CO Applications---
With the recent retirement of Green's CO, we ahve an issue. It seems no
one in the squad wants to take over as the offical CO. So, I am
offering the position to the fleet. Again, if interested, send me a
breif description of why you should be in command there, and what you
would bring to the table, you all have one week.

8) SrS---
SrS talks continue to proceed. Right now I am in the midle of trying
to find out how many groups will be involved. At the moment, I have
contacted our very own R2F, the EH, as well as all other groups
curently attending the ORW. Look here for more news as things develope.

9)Unoffical Rule Talks---
In the rlules for PBF missions, note taht it says that any destruction
of friendly craft to aps ones score is not allowed. There were talks
the past week over a possible addition. One pilot had buffed their
score by straffing freindly craft to increase laser points. As a verbal
rule for right now, that will not ge allowed. A more offical rule will
be enduced soon. Also note, that after speaking with the said pilot, they re-flew the mission at an acceptable level.

10) Missing Pilot Files---
Last month, Jorval counted five reports that included a summary of the
score but included no pilot file for verification. As of this moment
this will no longer be tolerated. I will now refer you to a revised
PBF Rule #1 as printed below.

"1) You may run this mission as many times as you like but you MUST
get the MISSION COMPLETE message and have a valid *.plt file in order
to be eligible for the PBF Medal of victory. In addition, any score
not accompanied by a pilot file for verification will NOT be counted
by the PBF Command Staff."

Many of you have noticed that these missing pilot file scores have
not been added to the ITOD Tracker. I did this intentionally as none
of them made a difference in the scoring. You'll get your merit
points, but you made a mistake, and this is a kind of punishment.

This simply is not going to be tolerated anymore. You all know the
rules, now you get to follow them.

11) Unclean pilot files---
Another instance of people simply not reading, knowing or following
the rules. Refer to revised PBF Rule #3 as printed below.

"3) Make a new pilot file to run the mission. If you fail the mission
and wish to run it again make sure to use a new pilot file instead of
re-running it with the same pilot. Any pilot file found to be
"unclean" will result in the score NOT being counted by the PBF
Command Staff."

12) Yahoogroups---
Wildcard still needs to add me to their mailing lsits,
please do so.

-----PBF Mission And Rules-----

PBF 306

The deadline for the current mission is:
May 31st, 2001 at 11:59 p.m. CST

You can download the current mission at:
http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/pbf/missions.html

Send reports with pilot files attached to:
pbfreports@rebelsquadrons.org
                   &
phatat@hotmail.com       (to be safe)

The rules for flying the mission are:

1) You may run this mission as many times as you like but you MUST
get the MISSION COMPLETE message and have a valid *.plt file in order
to be eligible for the PBF Medal of victory. In addition, any score
not accompanied by a pilot file for verification will NOT be counted
by the PBF Command Staff.

2) Run the mission as "defect.xwi" ( this will place it as X-Wing
X-Wing TOD 1 Mission 1 ) so that your stats will be recorded in your
*.plt file.

3) Make a new pilot file to run the mission. If you fail the mission
and wish to run it again make sure to use a new pilot file instead of
re-running it with the same pilot. Any pilot file found to be
"unclean" will result in the score NOT being counted by the PBF
Command Staff.

4) Destroying "Friendly" craft to pad ones stats is strictly
prohibited. *.plt files containing "Rebel" craft kills will be
considered invalid.

5) You should also include a written report with your score laser/ion
shots and hits, missile shots and hits and kill totals in the email.

6) Pilot files will be manually calculated using the official
LucasArts scoring chart for X-wing. Anyone interested in obtaining a
copy of this chart, can email me to do so.

7) No individual scores will be changed after the deadline! If a
report is submitted that is never received at the report address
given above, it will not be added after the deadline. Neither will
the PBF CO accept a late pilot file. The only thing that can be
changed afterwards are errors made by the Command Staff.

8) There is a Fleet Wide competition based on this tour. Every pilot
who sends in a valid report will receive 1 merit point. The pilot
with the best overall score for the mission will be awarded a special
PBF Top Gun medal, along with receiving a 5 point bonus in the PBF
Merit System. In addition participating members from the squadron
with the best overall combined score will receive 5 bonus merit
points in addition to "Top Squadron" bragging rights. Also, the pilot
with the top score for each squadron (excluding the winning squadron,
and Top Gun) will receive 3 bonus PBF merit points. The reporting
members of the Squadrons on 2nd and 3rd places will get 2 bonus PBF
merit points.

*Note* In the even that the Top Pilot for the mission also happens to
be in the Top Squadron he may only receive the 5 bonus Credits for
one or the other. Same thing applies to each squadron Top Pilot and
2nd and 3rd place squadrons.

9) Mail problems including undelivered mail and corrupted *.plt files
are not the responsibility of the PBF command staff. If your *.plt
file becomes corrupted and you do not include a written accounting,
then your score will be counted as "0".

10) If a pilot retires from the PBF at any time during the course of
an active mission after having submitted a report, his report will no
longer count for his former squadron. He will still receive credit
for running the mission, but will be listed as "Inactive".

11) If a pilot transfers from one PBF squadron to another (such as
attaining a squadron CO position) during the course of an active
mission after having submitted a report, his report will will now
count towards the newfound squadron.

-----PBF Information-----

1) IRC---
I'd like to invite all pilots, new and old, to take part in whatever
activities they have running in the Rebel Squadron's Bar and Grill,
on the Undernet IRC network; #RS_Bar_and_Grill is the name of the
channel. The Patriot Battle Fleet has it's own channel as well, #PBF.
I spend a lot of time on these channels, and it's a good way to
contact me if you have problems. It's also a good way to meet new
people and gather information about the RS. Make sure you're
connected to an Undernet server, and if you have trouble connecting
to the Undernet, visit the Undernet homepage at:
http://www.undernet.org

To download an IRC program for Windows PCs, and also learn a lot about
how IRC works, visit the homepage of the program mIRC at:

3) Operation Lanvarok---
For anyone who wants to fly a bit more than you are now, there's a
group for you. It's called Operation Lanvarok. This group flies the
Academy missions weekly in a storyline. If you're interested in
joining, contact Major Lozza McG at: lozza@gmx.co.uk
