Greetings fellow members of the Rebel Squadrons. ":)

Welcome to yet another informative High Command Weekly NewsFlash for the week of May 24th.  For the past couple of weeks the members of High Command have discussed and decided on how character names and their relationship to our members will be. In the past, Undergrad Commanding Officers usually encouraged their incoming cadets to not directly pick names out of the Star Wars universe to promote creativity. Now it will be a requirement for all future members. By a majority decision, the High Command has voted for the following change to be added to the bylaws:

"2.9.0 Administrative Miscellany
2.9.1 Cadets joining the Rebel Squadrons are asked to pick creative character names. Use of a character name in use by a current member is not allowed. Use of a full character name from the Star Wars universe is also not to be allowed."

Under this new law, incoming cadets will not be allowed to pick a name from the Star Wars universe or a name that a current RS member already has. Therefore, if an Undergrad CO receives a join form from a cadet with a Star Wars name, the Undergrad CO must contact them to change their name. It should be noted that none of this policy applies to current RS members, everybody who has a name right now keeps it. But for all new cadets, all the "Han Skywalker", "Kyle Katarns", "Dash Rendars", "Corran Horn", "Wedge Solos", etc, etc names will not be allowed. The same goes for incoming cadets with the exact full name of current RS members. The Academy will be in charge of enforcing this through a screening process of the join forms.

With this topic out of the way, HC has begun discussion of multiple memberships/cloning in the RS. As more develops, you'll be informed.

That's all for this week. Stay tuned for next week's HC NF, same HC time, same HC place.  May the pride and honor of the Rebel Squadrons carry on in all of you!
