Fleet Commander's Address
Greetings members of the Rebel Squadrons. ":)
Welcome to my first address to the club at large in my tenure as Fleet Commander. The purpose of this address is to introduce myself and to foretaste a small peek to the future so that you may know what to expect from the office of the Fleet Commander.
To help familiarize yourself with me, the following is a little bit about myself. In real life, I am a college student at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. I’m currently a Computer Science major that is trying to leave that course of study to become a Management and Business major. Much like anyone else, I passionately enjoy the company of friends, sports, music, and of course…Star Wars. As for the Rebel Squadrons, hopefully my name is one that you recognize, for I have operated in this club's number two spot as Executive Officer for more than the past year, under FA Dave Trebonious-Astoris. I have been serving in this club for the past two and a half years, and have performed at every level of command, from a Squadron CO to a Wing CO, all the way up to the Rebel Squadrons Commando Division Commanding Officer just one year ago. I have been a member of the RSCD, Academy, and Intrepid Battle Group. I could sit here and list all sorts of past accomplishments, but I'd rather look towards the future and tell you what I hope to achieve as your Fleet Commander.
I have always pursued only one goal in my epoch here with this club. That aspiration is to make the Rebel Squadrons as fun as possible for every member under my command. As my jurisdiction has expanded, I'm now able to have the chance to achieve this for every component and every person in this organization. The one thing I can pledge to you each and every one of you is that I will always strive to do what is best for the entire club. I know I can accomplish that and so much more by continuing the professionalism and vigor
that FA Dave brought to the office of the Fleet Commander over this past golden year.
Going along with that, there are plenty of innovations you can look forward to experiencing. My first projects as Fleet Commander will be to set in motion a new Outer Rim War multiplayer competition, expanding the Internet Office to help improve the appearance of our internet presence and becoming more supportive to the needs of our members, and to give the State of the RS Address a new format to make it a more informative and newsworthy forum. These things will be accomplished by expanding the Executive Branch with new positions and opportunities. You can expect much more on that in the future, as well as the completion of projects that were in production before this change of power.
Last but not least, a special announcement. I asked the members of High Command for applications for the position of Rebel Squadrons Executive Officer on Monday. I reviewed each as they came in, and I was very impressed with how qualified each person applying really was. However, there was one application that really stood out and I truly believe will be the best fit to help me continue the ascension and rise of this club. This person has contributed more to this club than most of you can only imagine. It is my pleasure to announce that Rear Admiral Shikkie Kaaran as the new Rebel Squadrons Executive Officer!
This will of course leave the position of Internet Officer open for the time being. Shik and I will be setting up a plan to select a new IO, and to start that, we would like to begin taking applications for Assistant Internet Officer. If anyone is interested, please email RA Kaaran (shikkie@intrepid.net) and myself (zeon3@aol.com).
One thing I will always be is available to the membership. My door is always open to anyone and you may email me at (zeon3@aol.com) or (fc@rebelsquadrons.org) if you ever need to. Also, another great way to get in touch with me is through AIM (zeon3) or just on IRC. Together we are going to push to make the Rebel Squadrons better than it is now, and while that is a lofty goal, it should be lauded, and it will be achieved. May the Force be with you all, and may the pride and honor of the Rebel Squadrons carry on in all of you!
“:)
