Greetings members of the Rebel Squadrons. “:)

As October passes us by, most members are now in full swing with school and academia; as well as the workload that accompanies it. However, the Rebel Squadrons continues to function. As long as people continue to support this club, to participate, to update webpages, to write email, and to hang out in the B&G, this club will continue to flourish and continue its upward spiral. This makes me proud to declare that the state of the Rebel Squadrons is good. The thing that keep us coming back for more will not fade away if we do our jobs and carry out our responsibilities. That thing is fun!

Moving on to the meat of the SotRS, this and all future SotRS Addresses will have a new format that will hopefully include more newsworthy information. Most notably, you will find reports from the Executive Branch to better acquaint the membership with the Exec and better inform the general membership with what is being worked on by the people that run the day-to-day operations of this club. You will find all major club news within the reports. Without further ado…

1) New Planet Database – http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/planets/. This one is pretty self-explanatory. I would like to thank FA Dave Trebonious-Astoris, MGN Kyle Tobarn, COL Adam Fene, and BGN Deltan Saviri (Ret.) for their help in this project. Without them, it would not have been completed. For their efforts, I am putting them in for medal nominations (The Dagger of Courage).

2) I would like to announce the following people as official appointments to the Internet Office:

FA Dev, Rebel Squadrons Internet Officer
LGN Remarda “Python” Jundun, Assistant Internet Officer
BGN Patrick “Blaster” Blastfire, Assistant Internet Officer

Congrats! FA Dev brings his php and web design skills to the Internet Office. Expect some changes to the structure of the office and the IO website to take place in the near future.

3) As previously announced to High Command, the Executive has been expanded upon my orders to include a new Executive position: Operations Officer. The Operations Officer will be responsible for a great many things; but most importantly, he or she will serve as the chief administrator in dealing with competitions with other clubs, such as the Outer Rim War. A more definitive explanation of the Operations Officer’s responsibilities will be overseeing large scale multiplayer and single player competitions with other clubs, maintaining an archive of every ITOD mission created in this club, maintaining a club wide combat merit system, keeping a calendar of all missions and events, and archiving the results for all said missions and events. Most of this will be carried out through an informative website, which has already been started at http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/operations/. All of these things will be implemented within the next couple of weeks, so stay tuned for many new developments from the Operations Office.

4) Obviously the next thing to announce is the first appointment to this position. Brigadier General Don-Qui Cantanine will be the prime appointment to this post. BGN Cantanine is an Honorary Member of High Command, has served the IBG devotedly in the past as the Fleet CO, and was responsible for the concepts and creation of the last ORW competition in the Cadrel Expanse. It is my hope that he will bring that experience forth in the creation of an even better large-scale competition to compete in. Congratulations, Don-Qui, and best of luck! Already a proposal has gone out by DQ to HC and the ORW Council for a new ORW. We will keep you updated as things progress.
