============== Community Meeting ===============

Community meetings are scheduled for the second Sunday of every month.
The next meeting will be Sunday, April 14th, In #outerrim at 4pm EST.

=============== Bylaws Revisions ===============

FLEET Admiral Dave Trebonious-Astoris reports that the Bylaw Revision Committee is halfway finished revising the Administrative Structure portion of the Rebel Squadrons Bylaws. Once this section has been completed by the committee, High Command will review the result and either send it back for more work or approve the changes made.

=============== Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast ==========

Jedi Knight 2 has been released!

Many members already have their copies and from all reports it's awesome. I can attest to this fact, it's far better than Jedi Knight 1. Sabering has been completely redone and is incredible. In terms of realistic movement it is quite good. New Force Powers have been added (I love the Saber Throw), as well as different guns, many akin to games like Half-Life and Unreal-Tournament, but those games don't have lightsabers :P

The introduction of Bots (Computer controlled players) makes multi-player games more intense, and thus more fun.

As of this email I'm adding Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast to the Join Form at http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/newindex/join_form.php3

=============== Member Suggestions =============

From: Captain Isoldur "Dragon" Cauthon
Subj: RS Wide Melee Event
Status: Presented to High Command and under debate.

The idea is simple but good, an internal RS-wide competition where members can play the games against other RSers.
There are several additional ideas HC is considering to make this more fun. (Also a system will be figured out to allow for Simming).

1) Cooperative Teams: Games such as Counter-Strike and now Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast, as well as others support teamplay. With the number of members having access to broadband increasing it's now more feasible to conduct matches with teams. Therefore this competition will likely offer team play (1v1 will not be phased out however).

2) Competition/Fun & Fairness: To get people to attend it has to be interesting. This requires fun, which inherently requires fairness. To create competition there will be 2 (or maybe more) overall teams. But these teams must be balanced, losing all the time is not fun. There have been several ideas on how to generate teams in a fair manner.
a) Randomly assign people to teams as they sign up for a gaming account in the database that will be made to track standings.
b) Randomly assign people to teams each night, so that teams are different each week.

3) Storyline: Create another set of planets to fight over, as was done in ORW with the Cadrel Expanse. For example, one team could be considered the Imperial team, and the other the Rebel. Or New Republic and Pirates. The Aurora Force might take part in writing a weekly storyline update to be included in the results newsletter.

As this is a very important event to stir forth some activity we would greatly appreciate any suggestions or ideas pertaining to this topic.
