RSCD NL 6-25-02

Greetings everyone,

Just wanted to announce a couple of things as well as recap our performance at the Inter-Club Melee this past Saturday, so let's get to it.

---------------------------------------------

Upcoming Competition

Earlier this week I received and accepted a challenge from the EH's GMRG for a JK1/JK2 competition. As of now the date for this event has been set for Friday, July 12th, with the exact start and end time to be determined later this week. I'm giving everyone more than two week's notice for this competition so that I can find out how many of you are interested in competing, and what times on Friday would be good for you. Just so you know, the regular RSCD melee scheduled for July 12th will be cancelled so that we can all show up against the EH. I really want to see a good turnout for this, so please drop me an email and let me know if you'll be able to participate.

----------------------------------------------

Wing / Squad Reports

Just as a reminder for any Squad / Wing COs who were assigned a report task through the roster database, you've got until this Sunday, June 30th to get those wrapped up. If you haven't turned one in yet, you know who you are :P

----------------------------------------------

New Members

I'd like to welcome the following members who completed their Academy requirements and joined the Commando Division during the past week.

2Lt. Rick Janowiec (Dragon)
2Lt. Rancor Dasorin (Talon)

Congratulations on our newest additions to the Fleet. Let's all make them feel welcome around here :)

-------------------------------------------------

#RSCD

This is mainly a note for our new members who've joined recently. I just want to make sure you're all aware of how to connect to our chatroom on IRC. The first thing you'll need is an Internet Relay Chat (IRC) client such as mIRC (http://www.mirc.com). Once you have such a program, simply connect to any Undernet server (example: diemen.nl.eu.undernet.org) and then join channel #RSCD. Once in the channel you'll be able to find people to play JK matches against, or just talk to about the Fleet or club in general. It's a useful tool that I highly recommend.

6-22-02 Inter-Club Melee

Full match results can be found at http://rebelsquadrons.org/melee/

Individual records for RSCD members participating during the day broke down as follows:

Gambit 7-0-0
Lee       6-0-0
Kaz       4-0-3
Idano      0-0-1

Even though we lost by a short margin in JK2, I'm very proud of the performance by members of this Fleet. Gambit and Lee in particular both had great days, going undefeated throughout the competition. The RS was down by a large number of total points early on, but thanks to their contributions we were able to help the club to yet another victory. I would also like to take a moment to recognize one of our newest members, 2Lt. Idano Delryn. Idano had scarcely completed training when she took to the field Saturday to join in the competition.

Awards

The following Commandos were recently awarded the Valiance Combat Citation for their performance in Saturday's Inter-Club Melee

GEN Boid "Gambit" Reaves
VA Kaz Falcion
2LT Lee Chaolan

In addition, 2nd Lieutenant Lee Chaolan was further recognized for his record with the awarding of an RS Combat Medal.

Also, for facing an opposing club for the first time in battle, 2nd Lieutenant Idano Delryn has been awarded the RSCD Combat Citation.

Congratulations to eveyone who received an award!

Closing

I'd have to say I'm quite happy with the way things are going right now. The only thing I'd like to see more of is a few more commandos coming out on Saturdays to play in the Inter-Club Melee. Other than that, I think we're all benefiting from the stepped up work of various Fleet members. Once we get everything for the House system settled in, I expect to see even more success from our Fleet.
