Phoenix Squadron Newsletter ~ August 16, 2002
1120 hours
CRV Windstorm
The diminutive former pilot turned intelligence officer was met in the hangar of the Windstorm by the reptiod SO of Phoenix Squadron, Colonel Ste T, whom she’d worked with before here and there – sometimes with the X-Wing Undergraduate Academy, sometimes as a contact for Phoenix Squadron’s operations. She nodded to him. “Ste. It’s been a while.”
“Glad you could make it, General. I wish the reunion was happening under happier circumstances.” The pair fell into step together as they headed down the hall. “For a few minutes there, I didn’t know who to call. Then I remembered that you were a friend of Indy’s.”
Tag Rendar Losoda, New Republic General, glanced over at Ste. “A little beyond her friend. What’s up? Your communiqué was a bit abbreviated.”
“Mostly because we’re trying to keep this under wraps. Mike’s losing it, which was why I was the one making calls.”
Tag stopped and looked at him. “Ste, what’s going on?”
Ste stopped, turning and looking at her. “Indy’s been captured by Imperial forces. Right now, we’re trying to track her locale, but it’s slow going. Mike babbled something about encrypted identification and using it to track her, but he’s pretty focused right now on going back after her. You know him.”
Tag drew a deep breath and exhaled slowly, nodding. “How’d it happen?”
“C’mon with me, I’ll walk you through the patrol. We’re trying to figure out how to rescue them.” Ste waved her down the hall.
Tag shook her head as they walked toward one of the small briefing rooms. “This couldn’t come at a worse time.”
Ste glanced over his shoulder at her. “What do you mean?”
“I mean that the reason I got out here so fast was because I was already outbound from Coruscant heading in this direction. You know how you and Mike and Indy were out on Coruscant about a month ago, and how the mission she was briefed on was delayed for at least six months? Well, it’s looking like the timetable may be pushed up.”
“Don’t kid me like that.”
Tag sighed. “I wish I wasn’t. Lead on, flyboy.”

From here on in, hopefully, there will be a narrative section to each newsletter. Thought I’d get that out of the way.
Squadron News ~
Skawl is STILL AWOL. If he doesn’t fly and report on PBF 406, he’s gone. No questions asked, no nothing. On a lighter note, we’ve added a new vi—I mean, a new member to the roster. Everyone please welcome Major Tech Krill to Phoenix. No, that does not mean you can put blow-up dolls in his locker and throw food at him in the cafeteria. I said NO. Stop whining. Stop. Right now. STOP THIS INSTANT OR YOU CAN GO TO YOUR ROOM.
>Ahem.< Sorry about that. In other news, I have two missions built for Phoenix TOD 3 and I’m working on the narratives to go with them. Mission two has not been tested yet. When I have about the first six missions done, I’ll start releasing them, probably sometime in September or October (it all depends on how bored I am in the next few days, really).
Our wonderful XO should be back in the country on the 20th. I think. I hope. Don’t forget, if you want in on the “rescue the CO” thing, e-mail Mike and I (mikebullian@aol.com, klitzkee@student.gvsu.edu) regarding it. Right now, we have one volunteer.

PBF 406 is due on August 25. Narratives are due on August 31. The mission is attached to this e-mail. Let’s all try to fly this one, shall we? It’d be nice to stay somewhere above last place. I don’t have any tips on it yet – I haven’t had much of a chance to fly it. Let’s all play a little game of “beat the CO’s score,” after I fly it, OK? I know most of you are better pilots than I am. Anyway, I’ll cease the rambling now. Get out and fly, and may the Force be with you.
