Patriot Battle Fleet Mail

Location: General McGrath's personal shuttle, enroute from Bakura
Status: Green, in hyperspace
SRT: 1202 HRS
CRT: 0902 HRS

The humm of the engines of the heavily outfitted Lambda-class shuttle southed Slyder as he layed in his bed fast asleep. Even the lighting was southing. The dimmers were on full, and a slight glmmier came though the large window as stars streaked past. Aside from that, the only other light in his room was a faint green one produced from the datapd on his desk. Even Micro, his R5 was completely shut down. The data pad was the culmination of a secret information gatherin mission Slyder had gone on depp under cover. The only person that knew where he was back in the fleet was Spokes. And the only 2 people that traveled with him were Lt. Spheres his piot and Cpl. Decker, an old friend in the core.
Slyder had gone to Bakura to follow a fledgling lead on the location of the supply convoy that fled from the PBF's last encounter with the White Guard. The datapad read as follows.

======================================
------Persoanl Entry 10597.8904 Gen. Mcgrath, Slyder------
======================================

The mission has proven more usefull then previously
argued by Spokes. He thought the lead would prove to be
a trap set by the White Guard. While the mission was
forced to a close near the end due to WG forces gaining
knowledge of our presence, I have found what it is I came
looking for.

Our previous mission sent us to a known White Guard
supply line. We had recently forced them from their
closest base to RS territory. With the destruction of the
base, forces were diverted to the supply line during the
evacuation. After tracing them, we quickly raided and
disrupted the line enough to slow down the supplies. From
reliable information, we had also devastated a large
number of imperial craft that the guard had stockpiled.

After meeting with my contact on Bakura, we were
quickly inserted into a known supplier of arms and
munitions to the white guard. After a weeks worth of
undercover digging, my team found that the convoy
had been diverted to the planet Haalioyus, a remote
planet deep in the outer rim. It appears that there is
a growing force there under the command of a one
Commander Frenzer, setting an ambush for us. We
will be going around the system, and jumping to the
opposite side of the system and should get a jump
on our enemies. Once I return to the fleet, I will
meet with my staff and intell to further plan out
a mission.

Paladin's Second Mission:

Location: FRG Rebel Vengeance, Deep Space - Paladin / Katarn Strike Force
Status: Green
SRT: 1705 HRS
CRT: 1405 HRS

One by one the pilots returned from their recon missions. One by one they reported finding nothing. All bar their squadron CO, who had reported a contact and was checking it out.
It looked like LCM Dev Azzameen would have to look after the next briefing once in the briefing room, Dev noticed the extra face of BGN John G'AdRS, Katarn Commando CO, standing at the rear, looking as though he were ready to crack some White Guard skulls open. That was good news as the Katarns are to play a key part in the upcoming operation.
"Greetings all." Dev began the briefing "I've called you all here because LCM Rezmann has located what we are looking for. Our future operations depend upon the complete success of this mission. I'll keep this short and sharp as we have to be ready to go at a moments notice. We need to capture several White Guard ships. These ships should contain vital intelligence that will allow us to see into their group, predict their actions and ultimately lead to an exploitable weakness. The Paladin's will work in two rolls. One group will pilot Y-wings to disable the ships, whilst a second group in X-wings will provide cover for the transports carrying the Katarns. The Katarns will be responsible for the boarding operation. General GadRS are your men ready?"
"Locked and loaded and just waiting for something to shoot." GadRS replied "You flyboys just keep the fighters off our transports on the way in and we'll look after the rest."
"Excellent. Well everybody to your fighters, we need to disembark the Rebel Vengeance as she has other orders, we will be supplied with two corvettes to supplement our force, I'm sorry about the lack of detail in the briefing, we don't know what our targets are exactly as yet. We are awaiting further instructions from LCM Rezmann, I'll inform you as we get more details."
*****************
The pilots all filed out of the room, and towards the hangar, leaving just Dev and GAdRS.
"General, whatever it is we are to capture, you know what to look for. Get back whatever documents you can, and try not to kill anybody who looks like somebody who could give us information." Dev said.
"What about the ships we capture? Do we destroy them or take them for ourselves?" GAdRS asked.
"Are your men capable of bringing back starships? It's would be a bonus if we could retain these vessels and do a proper search over them."
"Provided it is nothing larger than a corvette, then yes we wont have any trouble bringing a ship or two back."
"OK then, bring back what you can, we might be able to use them in future operations."

Deep Space - White Guard Navigation Point

LCM Rezmann pulled the A-wing into a tight loop, dispatching another TIE Advanced to the scrap pile, in the process getting a solid ID on the Corvette in front of him. That was the last one, now he could get the hell out of here, but first he had to transmit the data he had collated from this mission. He sent the signal, dodging the fire from another TIE Advanced coming in from 3 o'clock high. Waiting for the transmission to finish, Rezmann engaged the TIE Advanced, several shot splashing off it's shields before breaking through to strike the hull and eventually something vital enough to cause an explosion.
A beep signalled that the transmission had finished, Rezmann pulled back on the hyperdrive lever. Stars turned to starlines.

Deep Space - Paladin / Katarn Strike Force

"Paladin XO, this is corvette Phalon. We have received a transmission from Paladin 1" Came the Phalon's captain's voice over the comm.
"What did Rez find?" LCM Dev Azzameen asked from the cockpit of his Y-wing about half a click to the port side of the transport.
"Ahhh he says he found a group of Corvettes and some other smaller vessels, sir. He's also supplied us with a set of co-ordinates and instructs us to get to them as soon as possible. He says you will know why. There is also a larger transmission, I think it's the data from his recon gear, though we're still receiving that as we speak, it appears that we are hitting a pair of corvettes."
"Thank-you Lieutenant, send the co-ordinates to all ships and prepare to jump in 2 minutes." Dev ordered. Before switching frequencies. "Paladin group listen up, Rez has found our targets and you should all be receiving jump co-ordinates any second now. It appears that we have the destination of two corvettes. It is our job stop them from getting away so that the Katarns can take control. We jump on my mark."

Corvette Group Persecutor - Deepspace

The White Guard Corvettes Persecutor 1 and 2 burst out of hyperspace, making for their next jump point that would allow them to rendezvous with the rest of the White Guard fleet and deliver their documents.
But first they had to wait for their fighter escort to arrive.
On the bridge of Persecutor 1, stood the commander of the group. A tall well built human, with jet black hair and a neatly trimmed moustache. He looked out the front viewport and saw something flash into his view from above and disappear into the distance.
"Sir, sensors pick up an A-wing directly in front of us. It's the same one that searched us before our last jump. It's making a turn in our direction." The sensor operator warned.
"Shields up and launch the fighters, we shall teach this pilot a lesson he will never forget." The commander ordered.

Paladin 1 - Deep Space

Rezmann watched as two TIE Interceptors launched from the corvettes growing ever larger in front of him. Setting his lasers to dual fire and targeting the nearest TIE, Rezmann headed in to destroy the corvettes defenses before the Y-wings arrived...... 'This should be a piece of cake' he thought to himself just as he got within firing range.

NEWS:

1) Beeing Busy
For those of you that have known me (Slyder) for the 4 years I have been here, you would know that from around August till November I can be very dificult to get ahold of. Its a pretty hectic time fo year for me with work, school and football all commencing at once. I wanted to again thank each and every member of the fleet for supporting me and my command staff during the time frame, and it is good to be home. And thanks for not lynching me :)

2) Tis the season
As you all know, its almost that time of year again. I know that there is a lot of traveling that happens around this time, so my staff and I have decided to postpone the mission release a bit. The mission will be going out within the next 3 weeks, and will not be due till late December. This is mainly to alot enough time for everyone to get a chance in what will be a promisingly fun mission. This will also give people one less thing to worry about during the hectic season, and some mjore free time to spend with family.

Sunday November 3, 2002, 11:59 pm EST

Narratives are due Friday November 8, 2002, 11:59 pm EST

You can download the current mission at:

http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/pbf/missions.php

Send reports with pilot files attached to:

pbfreports@yahoogroups.com

Plus your own squadron CO and/or squadron egroup.

The rules for flying the mission are:

1) You may run this mission as many times as you like but you MUST
get the MISSION COMPLETE message and have a valid *.plt file in order
to be eligible for the PBF Medal of victory. In addition, any score
not accompanied by a pilot file for verification will NOT be counted
by the PBF Command Staff.

2) Run the mission as "defect.xwi" ( this will place it as X-Wing
X-Wing TO 1 Mission 1 ) so that your stats will be recorded in your
*.plt file.

3) Make a new pilot file to run the mission. If you fail the mission
and wish to run it again make sure to use a new pilot file instead of
re-running it with the same pilot. Any pilot file found to be
"unclean" will result in the score NOT being counted by the PBF
Command Staff.

4) Destroying "Friendly" craft to pad ones stats is strictly
prohibited. *.plt files containing "Rebel" craft kills will be
considered invalid.

5) You should also include a written report with your score laser/ion
shots and hits, missile shots and hits and kill totals in the email.

6) Pilot files will be manually calculated using the Official PBF
Standard scoring chart for X-wing. Anyone interested in obtaining a
copy of this chart, can email me to do so.

7) No individual scores will be changed after the deadline! If a
report is submitted that is never received at the report address
given above, it will not be added after the deadline. Neither will
the PBF CO accept a late pilot file. The only thing that can be
changed afterwards are errors made by the Command Staff.

8) There is a Fleet Wide competition based on this tour. Every pilot
who sends in a valid report will receive 1 merit point. The pilot
with the best overall score for the mission will be awarded a special
PBF Top Gun medal, along with receiving a 5 point bonus in the PBF
Merit System. In addition participating members from the squadron
with the best overall combined score will receive 5 bonus merit
points in addition to "Top Squadron" bragging rights. Also, the pilot
with the top score for each squadron (excluding the winning squadron,
and Top Gun) will receive 3 bonus PBF merit points. The reporting
members of the Squadrons on 2nd and 3rd places will get 2 bonus PBF
merit points.

*Note* In the even that the Top Pilot for the mission also happens to
be in the Top Squadron he may only receive the 5 bonus Credits for
one or the other. Same thing applies to each squadron Top Pilot and
2nd and 3rd place squadrons.

9) Mail problems including undelivered mail and corrupted *.plt files
are not the responsibility of the PBF command staff. If your *.plt file
becomes corrupted and you do not include a written accounting,
then your score will be counted as "0".

10) If a pilot retires from the PBF at any time during the course of
an active mission after having submitted a report, his report will no
longer count for his former squadron. He will still receive credit
for running the mission, but will be listed as "Inactive".

11) If a pilot transfers from one PBF squadron to another (such as
attaining a squadron CO position) during the course of an active
mission after having submitted a report, his report will now
count towards the newfound squadron.

12) Flying/Incentives
After a unanimous decision by the PBF Command group (all COs and XOs at every level) I have decided to implement an incentives program. This was prompted
by the overwhelming number (percentage wise) of reports on 312. The new incentives are as follows:

A) For every squad that reports at 75%, a ribbon will be awarded for that mission. This ribbon will be a small graphic that can be added to pilot uniforms. I haven't
created it yet...but I will be talking to those I need to shortly.

B) For every squad that reports at 100%, the same mission ribbon will be offered, as well as an additional merit point for the mission (not counting top ace, or squad
merits.)

You may ask, "What is required for the reporting.

1) A valid mission file and physical report (same as normal)
2) We know some people can't report in some instances. This will not be held against squads. If it comes to pass that you could not report for any reason, such as computer issues, you were gone...A properly written narrative will suffice for the flying report. This does not cover, "Oh, I forgot to fly" Or, "I didn't want to fly." These narratives are for the use of people who cannot fly the mission, and need another method of counting a report.

Guidelines for narratives:
The narrative needs to be more then "I got in my ship, launched, flew around, shot this and this up, went home and drank beers." A quality written narrative (Under the discretion of PBF command staff looking at reports) needs to consist of some bulk. It can be, however, a report of anything. Since by using this method of reporting, you weren't able to fly for whatever reason, the narrative DOES NOT have to be about the mission directly. You could write a substantial narrative about since your hip was damaged, you stuck back to make repairs to join the second wave. Or, since you couldn't fly, you volunteered to join the rescue shuttle to help an EVA pilot. What you write about is up to you. However, we have command people watching these reports, and they need to be involved, decent reports, or they will not be counted to the squad total.

Also note: If a squad is at say 10 pilots....the 75% rule would apply to 7 pilots minimum...the 12 pilots per squadron will have no effect. The 75% and 100% requirements will be based off of the current squad roster...for those that were curious about that.
