ABG NL 1/15/03
First off, by God this thing is late!!! And for that I apologize, and for that I've decided to make today a double pay day. On top of that, when I send the January NL later this month you'll all get paid again. So hey, missed December-riches in January. Anyway we have quite a bit of news, so on with the NL

New Colors: I got a lot of bad vibes from the old gold and black. And I say gold but it really wasn't, more like a hideous yellow. Website colors are being changed, although they may not be entirely done yet as the text may be a bit too dark. So far the changes have received some kind words, but if you haven't voiced your opinion yet feel free to do so. I think I've managed to come up with a very nice color, kind of a metallic blue/purple (depends on how you see it). Accordingly, I'd also like to see the uniform changed to match and have created a prototype. Unfortunately, RS email doesn't let me attach so I'll have it up on a site for you all to view and make opinions on sometime soon.
Scarlet change: Just before her resignation Spydie requested Scarlet be converted into a NJO squad. Considering the popularity of the unofficial NJO sims I agreed. However whether or not this change remains permenant depends on the response I get from A) People still interested, and B) At least two people interested in leading the squad.
Recruit: Our numbers have lowered to forty-three, and while I still disagree with those few who think this means we're done for, I do strongly encourage recruiting. Remember, more people means more sims, which means more happiness (and CP!). Additionally I am keeping track of recruiters, awards will be given after certain numbers of people are recruited. Please be sure to have your recruits select "Recruited by" and then add your RS name on the join form. If they don't I don't know who recruited them and you don't get the credit you deserve.

Project 1: Library conversion - Progress: About 70%
Reorganizing and adding to the library. New design will hopefully make finding what you're looking for easier.
Project 2: Manual Conversion - Progress: 0%
To begin after completion of the Library, this too will be a matter of reorganization and additions, including bringing back our lost Advanced Skills.
Project 3: Character Generator - Progress: About 20%
Attempting to create an easy to use online character sheet generator which will guide you through the creation process and then print out your completed character sheet for submission to your academy/squad leader/me/all your friends.
Project 4: New stats Fatigue, Encumbrance - Progress: About 30%
Simple enough, considering adding a new stat to all characters called fatigue. This is basically a measure of your character's endurance and will be the limiting factor on how many actions you can take. Additionally, encumbrance will be the weight limit your character can handle moving around with, and will be the limiting factor on items that can be carried. After exceeding this point you will become encumbered and start taking penalties, exceed this by too much and you can no longer move.
Project 5: Backgrounds for starting characters - Progress: 1%
This is an attempt to make new characters that are custom created have more flexibility. Backgrounds will modify skills and attributes to raise some and lower others, making characters a closer match to the biographies people create. These still must be generalized enough to be able to be used in a variety of situations. Should make the game more interesting for new members and give them a bonus to help close the gap between complete newbies and those who've been here a while.
III
New Store: Currently a collective project headed by Gambit, and joined by myself and Shik-attempting to create a new store system which items can be bought on various planets and markets. The plan is to create a black market and legit market for many of the known worlds and possible a few stations, when a sim group is on a world and in a place where items may be bought, such as a city or town, and not in combat the GM can open up the markets on that world and the simmers can "Go and get 'em." This will make things interesting as each market and planet holds different items and/or different prices.
NPC Tournament Continues: Apparently still going on, Raven's NPC tournament is a perfect opportunity to test your skills against a variety of enemies and situations. Prizes galore, even if you're like me and find out you actually can't hang with the big dogs.
Missed a project? Let me know if you have anything cooking you'd like people to hear about.

MGN Wes "Gizmo" Belden, it is a rare honor for me to promote someone to the rank of Jedi Knight, today I get that honor. Congratulations Giz, everyone knows it's about damned time!
Maj. Michael Raven, you have a profound understanding of the game we play, and are by far the most active GM in the fleet. Consider this a bit overdue, I hereby grant you the ABG: Game Master Patch - =[GM]=
LCM Cay-Qel Jade, for your hard work and dedication to the fleet, and for having the courage to stand when others fall, it is a privilege to bestow upon you the rank of full Commander. As the only one receiving a promotion this time around, you'll have to flip the tab for the drinks all by yourself. Congratulations!
And congratulations to everyone for all of your efforts. Remember, this is a fleet completely derived by the people and energy of the people here. The more you give this fleet, the more the fleet can give you. Let us give it our all, and make the Allegiance Battlegroup the best fleet in the entire club, hell out of all the clubs!
