IBG Merit Overhaul

I would just like to announce, that the Merit System has been redone, and is now in affect. Though I know this may come as a shock to many people, and furthermore anger many others, I'll explain to you all why it was done.
- Brief History
A long time ago, a former IBG CO created that old merit system. It was originally meant to up the activity in the IBG, to give it a large jump start. It worked for the most part, and it has served its purpose.
While a lot of you may know this already, what you probably didn't know is how time consuming it really was to update merits for -everyone- using the old system. The old system is extremely complex compared to any other Fleet's that I've seen. To update merits for just a single month, would take hours upon hours of time to do.
So to recognize the great efforts the past IBG CO's have put into help boost IBG's activity, you have my sincere gratitude Slate, Han, and Bluejay.
- Why?
Present Day. Let me explain first what exactly my objectives for IBG are one more time, so you'll all understand where I'm coming from.
1) Smooth running.
2) Stable.
3) A more 'relaxed' commanding atmosphere.
4) Greater member participation.
The overhaul of the merit system is a step toward these overall objectives. It makes my job easier, as a volunteer, to update merits along with the IBG XO or SO. Making it more simple will give us more time to direct our attentions to more important tasks.
Tasks like providing IBG Campaigns, Higher Quality ITOD's, Domination League, more News Updates for things like ORW, WoW and better relations with IBG members themselves. These I feel are a fair sacrifice for an outdated system.
- MP Credits
To those that have dedicated themselves and their skills to IBG, in any MP event, it probably isn't. However, I would like your support in making IBG a better place, and as I explained this is one of the steps to getting there.
Old Domination League records are still around, so credit for those matches WILL be given, and that is the best I can offer at this time.
Events like ORW, or WoW, will not be awarded on the IBG's new system. You get RS merits for those, and giving IBG merits for the same thing creates a double standard. Credit has already been awarded to pilots in this manner, so don't feel like you've been cheated out of anything.
For MP events that have no records, such as Squad Melees, if anyone has a record of those events, feel free to e-mail them to me and merits will be awarded for them.

- The Future
An automated ladder for Domination League is being worked on again. It is nearly complete, we should have it by the end of the month at the very least. So people interested in this event and hope to regain many of their old merits, I encourage to fly like no tomorrow.
An automated ladder for a Starfighter Circuit League is being worked on at the same time. It is a new event the IBG has never seen before. The idea first sprang from a former IBG'er named Ryan Deean, and now I'm moving that idea into a reality.
So extra merits can be gained through this as well. There are many things that everyone will soon be able to participate in, and even though everyone has lost many of their old merits, don't think of it as a loss.
Mainly because everyone lost the same amount, and everyone is pretty much in the same place they used to be except for their IBG patch. However, the amount of merits it takes to get patches has been reduced, so getting back to wherever you used to be should not feel like too much a headache.

Here is the new Merit System that will stand. It is much easier to follow and update the member's merits with compared to the old system. I've tried to keep things as traditional as possible, but for the sake of ease, many things were cut out.

As the Intrepid Battle Group CO, this is what has been done. Respect the decision I've made, because it's to fleet's benefit. Remember we're all volunteers, and it's my job to make things as smooth as humanly possible so that those volunteers stick around, which means more fun for you members.
If this has caused any great inconveniance to anyone, I can only give my deepest apologies, but it has to be done. The IBG Command Staff supports me, so it's my hope the rest of you have no complaints.
