The inevitable has come, and it is time for me to officially vacate my post as this club’s leader. The past two years have been a very wild ride, but the most important things I will be able to take from this experience are the friendships that I have been given the opportunity to forge over the years. Along with thriving with the joy of being able to make this club a better place, these relationships have sustained me throughout my time here and have kept me coming back for more and more. Without these people, I would have never been able to accomplish a portion of what I was able to do. Therefore, although the list is outrageously long, it demands it. Before I begin with the thank you’s, however, I must address the business at hand…

Accordingly, I now officially resign and retire from the position of Rebel Squadrons Fleet Commander. I hereby transfer the mantle of command over to Rear Admiral Gavin Cantorph Kravis, and vacate the FC's chair in favor of him. Allow me to be the first to offer my congratulations on your official accession, Gavin, and may you have nothing but success in your new position!

As a result, I would like to recommend that the entire membership rally behind your new leader and offer him your full support. Speaking from my own experience, the Fleet Commander can use every ounce of it!

Now that a world’s worth of weight has been lifted from my shoulders, let me begin with my expression of thanks. First, I would like to start at the origins and thank Rebel Squadrons High Command. Even though the majority of members that originally elected me to the position are no longer serving, I would have never made it this far without some kind of support for this job. As a result, I am extremely thankful for this opportunity. Words can simply not express my thanks in proper terms because this chance has been an invaluable experience for me that will stay with me throughout my lifetime.

Dave – If I could ever claim a mentor in this club, I would unquestionably point to you. Additionally, if I could ever claim a best friend in this club, it would also be you. Your intelligence, loyalty, leadership, and example have been invaluable to the club at large, and to me, from beginning to end. Thank you for always being there and thank you for being the best officer in this club. Period.

Shik – I have said it before and I will say it again: Perhaps more than any other person in this club, you have had a greater impact on this club than anyone else. You have been a blessing, and it was an absolute honor to have you serve as the RS Executive Officer. Not only that, but it was a blessing to work with you for so long and to have you as a friend. Without coming across as too corny, I want you to know that I will always value our time together.

Spokes – During the past six months, you have been a wonderful bastion of intelligence and support that I have become dependant to count on. I am more than pleased that I took a chance on you to serve as RS XO, and it was worth every minute. I have learned to greatly value your opinion and advice, and I am excited to be able to watch you accomplish more and more. Thank you for all the help, buddy!

RC – In the few times we were able to work together, I was able to discover why all of the veterans revere you as such a legend. You are a great mentor to everyone and whenever a voice of reason needed to be expressed, you were always there to give it. Never stop that. For that, I thank you. It was, and always will be, an honor to work with you.

Lamin – It is my personal opinion that if there was ever such a thing as an “up-and-coming” or “next generation” of leader in this club to be on the lookout for, you would without doubt be that person. I cannot say enough about what an intelligent and hard worker you are. Your strive for excellence is uncanny, and as a result, you are a rare gem in this club. On top of that, you are also a truly great friend. I am very proud to have served with you.

Deltan – This club owes you a debt of gratitude that I am not sure it will ever be able to repay. I cannot thank you enough for all of the hard work and dedication that you have given to this club, and most especially, your assistance in helping create my vision for this club’s internet presence. Without you, absolutely none of it would have been possible. I am forever grateful for that, and it has always been a pleasure to work with you and call you a friend.

Licah – I think your story is very funny. One day you got in trouble, and in perhaps a very uncharacteristic move for myself, I put you to work right away. What followed was perhaps one of the best decisions I have ever made. :P I cannot say it enough, but right now you are this club’s hardest working officer. You are a great guy, a great friend, and one of the few great Internet Officers this club has been fortunate enough to have. Keep on rocking, Licah!

Dev – You are well into your retirement at this point (I’ll catch up, don’t worry), but I will never be able to forget all of the great times we had working and gaming together! You have been one of my best friends in this club, and were always a great leader. Thank you for the good times, and all of the excellent service, man!

Python – I still remember when you were one of my cadets in the RSCD ROC! It is absolutely amazing to think how far we have come since then! You are one of the greatest friends I have had the pleasure of knowing in this club, and an extremely intelligent, skilled, and hard worker. Thank you for everything!

Isoldur – Since you live in the room across from mine, I think I will be thanking you in person. However, I did want to recognize you, once again, for helping getting us through a second Outer Rim War, the Inter-Club Melee, getting us into the WoW’s, and helping develop the RS Merit System. You did a lot more than anyone has been able to give you proper credit for, and I will never forget that.

Kyle – When I first met you in the B&G, I was pretty sure that I did not like you. Little did I know, however, that you would turn into one of my best friends in the RS, and one of the best Fleet Commanding Officers this club has ever had the pleasure of knowing. Thank you for always being there and for your excellent service!

Vender – Like Kyle, you have also been a great friend and one of the best Fleet Commanding Officers I have had the pleasure of working with. I will always remember the late night discussions we had or the crazy ideas we attempted to accomplish by staying up until 6 in the morning. Thank you for all of those moments, and your excellent service!

Biggie – You have been a stalwart servant to this club for many years now. It was a pleasure to be able to draw upon your experience and call you a friend. Thank you for everything, Biggie!

Randy – I believe it was you and Apoc that finally convinced me to join the ABG, and I am very glad I did that. Not only was it an extremely fun experience, but getting to know and work with you was an honor. Thank you for being such a great friend, and keep on rocking in the ABG!

Blaster – We have had our share of disagreements, but I cannot help but walk away and have nothing but good things to say about you. For five years we have been playing all sorts of games together, and it has always been a blast (no pun intended :P)! You are a great friend, a great officer, and a great person. Thank you for all of the good times, buddy!

Spyder - I am not sure if you are still around, but I need to express my thanks for being such a great friend to me. You listened when no one else would, and I will never be able to repay that. Thank you.

Sconn, Stallion, Ben, LiveWire, X, Zak, Giz, Davin, BJ, DQ, Jester, Speedy, Cable…this list can go on forever. In the interest of keeping this short(er), I just wanted to give a shout-out to you guys too. :) Each and every one of you helps make this club fun, and it has been great to know, work, and game with you guys! More than you know.

Gavin – Last, but not least, I would like to thank our next Fleet Commander! Why? Because you are crazy enough to take up the job! ;P Kidding aside however, I think you are an outstanding officer and will do an excellent job. Best of luck, buddy!

Well, that about wraps this up. To clarify, I am not retiring from the RS entirely. I plan on continuing to participate in Vanguard Wing (SWG). However, I have no intention to take on a position of leadership for quite some time. I do, however, have every intention of taking a break and relaxing from this club in order to put more quality focus into other things in my life. Nonetheless, this has been a great experience. Thank you all for that!

Hope you enjoyed the last club wide email you will ever get from me. I know I did! :) May the Force be with you and may the pride and honor of the Rebel Squadrons carry on in all of you!

Respectfully submitted,

Rahj Tharen, Admiral, Rebel Squadrons
