IBG NL, May 2004
IBG NL, 12 May 2004
\":)
Pilots,
At last, here is the May NL. First of all, I\'m sorry for this delay. I\'d planned to get this NL out at the end of last week, but due to some RL events I ended up spending a few days in the local hospital. I had no idea that was to be the result from what I thought should be a short visit to my doctor last Thursday, and that way I didn\'t get around to inform Jon about more than a brief note saying I was going to be away for a few days. Thanks for your patience - and thanks for nice mails :)
Anyway, as it wasn\'t the IBG CO curse that hit me - I\'m back in action, so let\'s get started. Here\'s what you\'ll find in the May edition of our NL:
1. Fleet and Staff News
2. ITOD 405
3. ITOD 406
4. MP Activities
5. Medals and Awards
6. Conclusion
1. Fleet and Staff News
I\'m proud to announce that we now have a complete staff. The last vacant position was the Internet Officer, but in April LCM Jagged \"Thunderbird\" Drayson was appointed to this important staff position. Jag is a welcome addition to the staff.
Perhaps the biggest change in April was the cleansing of Phalcun. 2/3 of the pilots were deleted from the Roster, and we\'re now well into the job of rebuilding this squadron. Thanks to CMDR James \"Nightwolf\" Davidson for being willing to take upon himself the job as CO in Phalcun until we can find a new CO on a more permanent basis.
We have a slow, but steady inflow of new cadets. Hopefully we will see a steady growing number of flying pilots as well.
2. ITOD 405
Mission 5 in our ongoing Tour ended with a slightly lower number of reports than what we saw on 404. 27 reports is below 50% participation, so there\'s a job to be done here. Well done to all those who reported, though! The fight for the top was fierce, and once again it was Richo that came out with the highest score. Impressive!
Once again Chiin\'Tal beat Titan, with Dagger and Draco dominating this round. Here is the Top 5:
1. CPT Richo 47 12,698 Draco Squadron
2. COL Han Suul 46 12,087 Draco Squadron
3. CPT Ric Gravin 41 10,727 Dagger Squadron
4. RA Tyrell \"Spokes\" Borran 29 8,554 Dagger Squadron
5. MAJ Djapana Wor\'nod 24 8,070 Draco Squadron
As you\'ll see from the Medals awarded below, this mission was a good example of how important it is to take a screenshot after you\'ve finished. This even if you get a score that is not high enough to end up in the Top 5.
It was fun that some pilots had taken the trouble of writing narratives. If you haven\'t read those, do it now, as they\'re well worth it :)
3. ITOD 406
This mission has been out for a week and a half by now, and this far three pilots have reported. There is a small possiblity that the mission will be re-released with a couple of minor fixes; if so, it will be done within a day or two, and you\'ll get a notification by mail.
Mission 406 is the third and last mission in the current season, so be sure to fly and report in order for your squad to be among those fighting for the Elite Squad of the Season medal and the Killboard Cup!
4. MP Activities
The LIC site is still down. I\'m really sorry for this, but there\'s not much we can do about it until the IO\'s office fixes it.
There is a XWA competition going on for bored people. Thanks to Spokes for telling us. You\'ll find what you need here: http://www.battlestats.com/games/xwa/war/info/?war2572 As you\'ll see, our club is among those signed up for this ongoing event. If you\'re bored, then go and fly.
The next XWA WOW is from Friday May 28th till Friday, June 4th. And don\'t forget the training nights on Saturdays in #Outerrim. Lots of opportunuties for flying here :)
5. Medals and Awards
It\'s my pleasure to award the following medals:
CPT Richo, for placing first on ITOD 405, you\'re hereby awarded the IBG Gold Wings. Excellent work once again, Richo :)
CMDR Kresa Rei\'de, for being the second pilot on the score board with a screenshot, you\'re hereby awarded the IBG Silver Wings. Nice job!
1LT Patryck Owen, for being the third pilot on the score board with a screenshot, you\'re hereby awarded the IBG Bronze Wings. Well done!
We had three nice stories this time. It was hard to decide who the winner was, so we ended up by giving away two medals this month. The third story was also a very nice read, but it didn\'t quite make it due to being considerably shorter than the two winners.
MAJ Djapana Wor\'nod, you\'re hereby awarded the IBG Mission Report Medal for your narrative on ITOD 405. Excellent writing!
2LT Kyle Dineer, you\'re hereby awarded the IBG Mission Report Medal for you narrative on ITOD 405. I\'m still laughing :)
Pilots of Phalcun squadron, you\'re hereby awarded the Commander\'s Golden Chalice for being the squadron with the highest percentage of participation on ITOD 405. Congratulations! The medal is awarded to those Phalcuns that reported on the mission.
Merit points have been updated, and you can check up your ranking here: http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/roster/merits.php?display=7
6. Conclusion
Before I end this NL, I\'d like to say that it\'s nice to see many of you in #IBG. The last weeks there\'s been more people online than what we\'ve seen for some time, and that\'s fun :)
I guess some of you\'re busy reading for exams and tests before the summer, and the IBG CS wish you all the best with your hard work and preparations.
That\'s all for now, pilots. Happy flying to you all!
