There are 3 days (this time I am serious) left to submit a flying report on PBF 6.02. There has been a whole lot of activity in the last 5 days or so, with the fleet doubling up its report total. We went from 21 (42%) to 43 (74%) during this span. Excellent work everyone! I see no reason why we cannot push for 50+ reports. With the current number of active duty Pilots in the Fleet (58), we would need 52 reports to break 90% reporting. I think we can do this no problem.

I sent out a checkup mail to all of those that have yet to fly PBF 6.02. Some of you I have already had the chance to talk with, so do not be alarmed or anything. It\'s just a friendly reminder to make sure you get out and help your squadron. With the standings as tight as they are, the mission is anything but wrapped up.

Gold Squadron currently has the lead, but FireClaw has a few wildcards left to play. Green is within striking distance sitting in 3rd, with Red Squadron (the defending 6.01 Top Squad) only a report behind. Crimson and Blue are neck and neck, and with a few more reports could easily move up in the standings to nab one of the top 3 spots.

---=FLEET NEWS=---

--PBF MERITS--

The PBF Command group was just sent a finalized proposal concerning the readjustment of both the PBF Merits Table and the Merits Ranking System. Look for news concerning this very soon, as there is a good chance that these changes will be put into place for before the end of 6.02.

--PBF FLEET ACTIVITY--

As you may have noticed, over the last few weeks we have had a number of pilots removed from the Squadron rosters. Many of the removed pilots had not reported in 6 months to a full year... or even longer in some cases. Leaving pilots on the rosters that are completely inactive not only hurts the squadron in question, but it brings the rest of fleet down as a whole. Ex-Pilots are more than welcome to return to the Fleet, but we will not be placing anyone back on a roster until they have submitted a report for the current PBF Mission. There is much more to come on this issue, so be on the lookout.

--PHOENIX SQAUDRON DECOMMISSIONED--

Unfortunately, this week saw the decommission of one of the Fleet\'s longest standing squadrons: Phoenix Squadron. PBF CS had been discussing the future of Phoenix, and we came to the conclusion that it was time to put the squad to rest. At the time of decommission, the Squad had only 3 pilots on the roster: Commanding Officer MAJ Joel Lance, Executive Officer VA Indiana Bridger, and Phoenix 9 COL Ste T.

LCL Nils Omar Sira-e.LXXIX agreed to give the former pilots of Phoenix a new home in Green Squadron, and MAJ Lance and COL Ste T have accepted his generous offer. On the other hand, VA Bridger has decided to end her career with the passing of the Squadron. Indy served with Phoenix from the end of Tour 1 (1.12) until now, reporting on 38 missions and holding the Commanding Officer position longer than any other person in Phoenix history. COL Ste T was the longest standing member of the Squadron, serving from PBF 1.09 and reporting on 37 missions. He is also the Squad\'s All-Time Points (1,235,167) and Kills Leader (1,071).

I would like to dedicate this Newletter to the memory of all that have served in Phoenix over the years, and have included these two brief parting Narratives by MAJ Joel Lance and COL Ste T. May one day come when Phoenix will once again \"Rise from the Ashes\".

-MAJ LANCE-

Major Joel \"Slim\" Lance sighed heavily as his X-wing made one last pass by the Windstorm. His thoughts were pained as he led Phoenix Squadron through the decommissioning ceremony. My last time as Phoenix Leader.

The unit was about to be disbanded, its pilots scattered to other understrength squadrons throughout the fleet. And while the major understood the necessity of the actions being undertaken, his heart was sorrowful as he reflected on his accomplishments and failures as the squadron\'s commander.

One thought worked into his dark thoughts, though, and gave him a bit of hope: Phoenix Squadron: Rising from the Ashes. The squadron\'s motto. Still, he couldn\'t seem to smile as he made his final approach into the Windstorm\'s hanger.

-COL STE T-

The door hissed open and a grey ball hit the wall opposite and sank to the floor. \"GET STUFFED!\" The roar came through the door as the man uncurled himself and painfully climbed to his feet. Inside the room, Ste listened for the sound of the mans footsteps as he quickly limped away and smiled. \"Tell ME I need to move...\" He muttered to himself.

Sighing and rubbing his tired eyes, Joel nodded to the ruffled man in front of him \"Don\'t worry ensign, I\'ll go make him clear out.\" The man staggered out, a look of relief on his face. Joel picked up the datapad and looked once more at the order. Phoenix was being disbanded, it still hadn\'t quite sunk in, but there would be time to consider this later, right now he had an angry reptile to face up to.

Arriving at Ste\'s quarters a few minutes later, Joel was surprised to find the door open. He walked in, coughing to announce his arrival, then realized there was nobody to announce it to. The quarters were entirely empty. The posters were gone, the furniture was missing. Even Ste\'s weapons rack had been unscrewed from the wall and taken away. The doors hissed shut behind him and he turned around to find a note tacked to the back of the door. \'Wouldn\'t do to let them think they could just order me around, would it? -Ste\'

Joel eventually arrived at his new quarters in Green squadron to find Ste waiting for him. \"JOOOOOOEL!\" Ste lumbered towards him, nearly felling him with the wave of alcoholic breathe. \"You found the bar without trouble I see.\"

\"Good guys we\'ve found ourselves with here.\" Ste put an arm around Joel and walked him towards the bar, seemingly oblivious to Joel\'s possesions following them on a grav sled. \"Come on, you\'ve got to meet them all. We\'ve got a dead squadron to toast and I\'m sure I\'ll find a reason to keep drinking after that.\"

Again, Squad and Wing CS, make sure to get the rest of your people reporting! If you hold a Command Staff position, and have yet to turn in a report, you best get one submitted or you\'ll have to deal with the Wrath of Phalon (and that\'s not a pretty thing, just ask Licah). As a member of CS, you must set a good example for those under your command (I know I\'ve said it before, but hell, I might as well say it again). We have already managed to smoke last mission\'s total of 30 reports, so we might as well go out and double it up (58/58 reporting... Hey! It could happen!).

Light Four in the Green, and Good Luck!!!
