IBG NL October 2005

Fianlly, here is the October edition of the newsletter. What we have for you this time is:

1. Staff news
2. ITOD mission 5.08
3. ITOD mission 5.09
4. MP/LIC
5. Medal and promotions
6. Other stuff
7. Conclusion

So let\'s get to it.

1. Staff news

As you might have noticed, I\'ve made a change in the fleet staff. Anton held for a time the position as Fleet SO along with Fleet TO. This has now been changed. The new Fleet TO is shaolin, and as his XO I have appointed Vason. The two of them are now responsible for taking care of new cadets, and see to it that they get to learn what they need in order to graduate into the fleet.

Anton has at the same time taken up the positin as ITOD Team CO. Send him som friendly thoughts, as this is perhaps the most laborious position in the IBG. He has proven himself to be a fine mission maker, and I hope we will enjoy his missions for a long time, as well as missions from his team members.

You will also have noticed that the announced secondary scoreboard is a bit delayed. This is due to RL events for our IO, Mystic. He\'s been working on it, though, and we still hope to get it ready before Christmas.

THere has been a change of staff in Dagger squadron. Ton has stepped down after having been the CO for a over a year. He is followed by Kicks. Thanks to Ton for his work as the leader of the Daggers. I know it can turn even the toughest guy into shiwering jelly, but Ton has had his own locker...eh, way of dealing with this, and seem to still be mentally ok. If anyone sees Kicks develop strange habits in the months to come, well, be patient with him.

2. ITOD mission 5.08

The eigth mission in our tour is now history. We had 18 out of 41 pilots reporting in on the mission, and this is not as good as we hoped for. Thanks to everyone that took the time to fly and report, and also to those who was prevented from flying, but reported in anyway.

The mission was won by Chris Horn \"Kicks\" from Dagger. He was far ahead of the rest, and earned his victory. As this was his fourth mission victory, he also won one of our most prestigeous medals, the Platinum Wings. Congratulations, and welcome into the PW club!
The Silver Wings was won by Kain Belmont from Phalcun. This is his first individual medal on the ITOD. Well done, Captain, and may we see you win more!
Third placed our notorious Boss, Tyrell \"Spokes\" Borran. It\'s very good to have a FC that can more than lead the club! He will soon have to go through some surgical treatment, in order to widen his chest, if he wants to carry all his ITOD medals at one time.

Among the squadrons the fight for the top stood between Phalcun and Dagger, and for once the Daggers had to seen themselves beaten. Excellent flying and team work, Phalcuns! The Daggers had the highest reporting percentage, though, so they once again took home the Commander\'s Golden Chalice.

The Top 5 pilots:

Rank/Pilot/Squadron/Score/Kills
1.BGN Chris Horn \"Kicks\"/Dagger/6,924/33
2.LCM Anton Nels/Phalcun/5,277/19
3.MGN Himm El-Syna/Dagger/4,070/37
4.CPT Kain Belmont/Phalcun/3,857/22
5.VA Tyrell \"Spokes\" Borran/Dagger/3,520/12

Squadron Standings

Rank/Squadron/Score/Kills/Reports
1.Phalcun/18,602/108/6
2.Dagger/16,674/82/5
3.Wildcard/5,926/16/4
4.Draco/4,916/21/3

This was the second mission in the last season of Tour 5. Before the final mission, Dagger is in the lead and looking to win once again the \"Elite Squadron of the Season\" medal, while Phalcun is far ahead in the fight for th \"Killboard Cup\". It will be exciting to follow the flying on 5.09 to see who will take home the metal. A lot of points are to be won in this last mission, so any of the four squadrons can in fact win the season.

We didn\'t have any narratives this time, so no Mission Report medals will be awarded. Thanks to Anton for making a fun and challenging mission!

3. ITOD mission 5.09

A bit delayed, but an excellent mission with plenty of dogfighting this time. You will need every bit of your flying skill on this one. Good luck and happy flying to you all! To those who can\'t fly, at least show your squadmates the respect to report in your Zero.

4. MP

It\'s very quiet when it comes to multi-player. Since the last NL, only two LIC rounds have seen any matches. I\'m aware that the LIC site still acts erroneous, but no one has contacted me about it, so I take it that no one has tried to report anything. Remember that flying together and against each other is a good way to have fun, and to get to know each other better.

The results for LIC round 58 is like this:

Domination League

Rank/Name/Points
1.BGN Chris Horn \"Kicks\"/1002
2.CMDR Dyl\'jo\'ban/1001
2.MGN Himm El-Syna/1001
4.1LT Lukus Harman/999

No matches were flown in the Starfighter Circuit League in round 58.

For round 62 the results are:

Domination League

Rank/Name/Points
1.MGN Himm El-Syna/1004
2.2LT SuperCiber/1001

Starfighter Circuit League

Rank/Name/Points/Time
1.2LT SuperCiber/1003/2:09
2.MGN Himm El-Syna/1000/2:37

Thanks to those who participated.

6. Other stuff

As most of you will know from an earlier mail, there are discussions going on among the members of HC about the future structure of the club. Some, among them myself, wants to change how the club is put together. No conclusions have been drawn yet, but the feeling that we need to do something soon is growing stronger. Keep an eye on the forums for more on this.

7. Conclusion

If you have a few free minutes, sit down and try remembering what first got you interested in searching out a Star Wars club on the Internet. What was it you were after? Fun? New friends? Hoping to find out if you were any good in a certain game? Whatever it was, it would be fun if you would take the time to share it with the rest of us. Who will be the one to start a thread on this on our forum?

Until next time, Happy flying to you all!
