IBG NL December 2005

Here is the November/December version of the IBG newsletter. I\'m sorry for the delay; last Sunday I did some work in my garage, and did something to my left shoulder. I was able to fly a bit that night, but the next morning my shoulder had started to act badly, so I\'ve been out of work for some this week. I finally got myself some help from my doctor, and today I can again write on my comp. So let\'s get to it.

1. Staff news.
2. ITOD mission 5.09
3. The next ITOD
4. MP/LIC
5. Medals and awards
6. Conclusion

1. Staff news.

Well, there\'s nothing much to report from the fleet staff this time. Some of us have had a busy RL to attend to, but at least Anton and shaolin have kept things running.

Among the squad staffs there\'s one important change. Brigateen has announced his resignation as Draco CO, and will step down one of these days. Brig has served Draco for quite some time now, but RL has caught up with him, and he now wants to let someone else take over. On behalf of the IBG Staff I\'d like to say a big Thanks! to Brig for his service. He will be missed. A new CO for Draco has not been appointed yet, but I intend to have this in place when Brig steps down.

2. ITOD mission 5.09

One week back the last mission in our fifth tour ended. We had 19 pilots reporting, and that is still below 50%, so there\'s something to work on here. I suppose the release of BFII may have stopped some from the making the monthly flight. Anyway, only Phalcun and Dagger had a participation to be proud of.

With the return of Richo to active service last month, I guess others than me had their thoughts about what the scoreboard would look like. And right; Richo reported in a winner score once again. It\'s nice to see him being able to keep it up :) shaolin did well this month, and got himself his first ITOD medal. It\'s cool to see our most active MP pilot being able to beat the single-player specialist. The third medal was won by Jaja, with excellent flying in his first try. That\'s impressive, and it looks like the Daggers have gotten themselves another Ace in their midst.

Phalcun ruled this mission, and was way ahead of the rest. The Daggers fought to catch up, but Phalcun had obviously decided that this one was theirs. This mission also was the last in the third \"season\" of the tour, and Phalcun won both the Elite Squadron of the Season medal and the Killboard Cup. Good work, Phalcuns! Dagger took home the Commander\'s Golden Chalice, by having the highest percentage of reporting pilots.

We had two pilots reporting in with narratives this month. Thanks to Galic and Joshua for their effort!

The top 5 pilots for 5.09:

Rank/Pilot/Squadron/Score/Kills
1/LCM Richo/Draco/16,156/81
2/CMDR Anton Nels/Phalcun/14,912/82
3/LCM shaolin/Phalcun/7,924/60
4/2LT Jaja Darksight/Dagger/7,842/60
5/MGN Himm El-Syna/Dagger/7,309/45

Squadron standings:

Rank/Squadron/Score/Kills
1/Phalcun/52,388/302
2/Dagger/39,408/228
3/Draco/19,468/102
4/Wildcard/6,075/47

With this mission Tour 5 is over. We had a total of 47 pilots reporting in on one or more missions on this tour. Four pilots - Spokes, Reabel, Ton, and Himm - reported in on all 9 missions. These four pilots will be nominated for the Dantooine Key for having reported in on 100% of the missions in an ITOD. Three pilots - Red, jcmcgoo, and Brigateen - reported in on 8 missions, and two pilots - Anton and Vason - reported in on 7 missions. All those reporting in 7 or more missions will be nominated for the RS Combat Medal, awarded for considerable accomplishment in combat.
All pilots having reported in on 33% or more of the missions will be nominated for the Dauntless Combat Citation.
Seven pilots had a total of more than 100 kills on this tour, and they will be nominated for the Alliance Dagger medal.

The final standings among the squadrons after Tour 5:

Squadron/Score/Kills/Reports
Dagger/307,721/828/52
Phalcun/249,722/681/37
Draco/180,509/494/38
Wildcard/73,018/237/35
NightWolf/14,303/36/8
Stinger/156/10/6

I\'ve included Nightwolf and Stinger, as they were still active when the tour started.
Dagger will be nominated for the Unit Commendation for their hard work in the tour, from mission 1 all the way through to mission 9.

Phalcun and Dagger will furthermore be awarded the IBG Commander’s Unit Citation for their efforts. Draco and WildCard will be nominated for the Violet Cluster.

All medals will of course be awarded to those that actually reported in from the different squadrons on one or more missions. Remember, if you look at the cummulative tour stats, that the two bonus missions are not included. They\'re \"outside\" the tour, and have their own standings.

Finally, the Tour Champion! It\'s my pleasure to nominate Richo to the Tour Champion Award for the second time. Congratulations, and keep up the good work! It\'s an inspiration to have your high scores to fight against.

3. The next tour and the next mission

Anton has almost completed our Bonus mission 3, so expect it to get out soon. The next tour will begin sometimes later this month. Some work still remains, and the first mission is not ready yet. This is partly due to the ongoing talks about a joining of the flying fleets, but I guess we will start out on a separate tour before such a joining can eventually take place. More information will follow.

4. MP/LIC

shaolin has revived our old Top Gun training squadron for multi-player activity. A few pilots have been let in, but there\'s still room for a couple more. If this sounds interesting, contact shaolin for more details. You will be expected to be active, so don\'t ask unless you really intend to fly on a regular basis.

In our ongoing competition, the Leagues of Interpersonal Competition, round 64 ended recently. Only matches in Domination League were reported in, and the standing at the end looks like this:

Rank/Pilot/Points/Matches
1/LCM shaolin/1008/4
2/2LT SuperCiber/1001/2
3/BGN Joshua Hawkins/999/1
4/2LT Ceradan Jade/997/3

Well done, pilots! Medals and merits will follow.

6. Conclusion

As some may remember, I mentioned a couple of months back that we are working on a \"secondary scoreboard\" for the IBG. I\'ve talked to Mystic, and we intend to have this ready within a few weeks now. This will be a separate scoreboard, where all pilots can report in scores on the old missions. This way each pilot will get a chance to compete against the overall standings on the primary scoreboard. It\'s a bit like getting ourselves a simulator, where we can refly as often as we want the old missions in order to become better pilots, and to see if we could\'ve done better in those missions than those who flew them when they happened...You will still get merits for flying the old missions, but now you can also see the results.

With this I end this NL. Take care until the next one. I hope to see a lot of you in #IBG over the next month.That\'s all for now, pilots. Happy flying to you all!
