Greetings Gentle Beings:

I am addressing most of you today over the holonet because the Fleets are spread out on various assignments and there are a number of announcements that cannot wait until we are all together.

First, an update from High Command. High Command has had two issues before it that have resulted in revisions to the Bylaws. One is substantive and the other was simple housekeeping. High Command has changed the definition of Cheating because there have been a few members who have tried to make "technical" arguments about the language of the Bylaws in an attempt to justify unacceptable actions. In conjunction with the Minister of Internal Affairs, Bylaw 5.3 Violations now contains the revised language:

"Cheating: The Rebel Squadrons does not tolerate cheating in any form."

This applies to both internal Fleet competitions and inter-club competitions. This language makes it clear that the Rebel Squadrons position is both strong and inflexible. So, everyone play hard and play fair.

The Second change to the Bylaws was simply revising the language on Recruits since the various Fleets now handle Cadets directly.

Second, it is my pleasure to announce a few promotions for some very deserving members of the Command Staff of the Fleets and the Executive Staff. There are two outgoing Fleet COs that served well. MGN Himm El-Syna, for an exceptional run Commanding the Intrepid Battle Group, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General with all the rights and privileges due. BGN Phil Darkfire, for working hard without complaint while Commanding the Renegade Fleet, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Major General with all the rights and privileges due. Congratulations to both of you as you step down from High Command.

To current Members of High Command have served well and are likely to continue to do so. MGN Leonard Cable, for handling the largest and most varied of our Fleets, you are hereby promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General with all the rights and privileges due. Serve Redemption Fleet well! Lastly, as the longest serving Fleet CO, Vice Admiral Indiana Bridger is hereby promoted to the rank of Admiral with all the rights and privileges due. Congratualtions to you both and keep up the good work.

The are three members of the Executive Staff, all Generals, who have contributed in a variety of ways to further the cause of the Rebel Squadrons. Generals Snappleguy, Licah Fox and Patrick Blastfire you are each hereby promoted to the ranl of Rear Admiral with all the rights and privileges due. Your hard work does not go unnoticed. I'd also note that Rear Admiral Licah Fox was awarded the Fleet Commander's Medal of Excellence for going above and beyond what any one officer could be expected to to in fixing so many of the little gaps and breaks to the RS Domain after we brought it back up. Congratulations Admirals!

Now, I have the honor of appointing new Commanding Officers to our three Flying Fleets. I have had several discussions with each of them, as well as members of the various Fleets. Taking command of the Intrepid Battle Group is Anton "Ups" Nels. He is also hereby promoted to the Rank of Colonel with all the rights and privileges due a Commander of a Fleet. Colonel Nels has already selected his Command Staff and they are set to meet the standards set by LGN Himm El-Syna. Congratulations and good luck!

Colonel David "Tenacious 'D'" is taking command of the Renegade Fleet and has already been serving as Acting CO and has participated on High Command.

BGN Joshua Hawkins is taking command of the Patriot Battle Fleet and has also been serving as Acting CO and participating on High Command.

Congratulations to the three of you and may the gods have mercy on your souls.

I am also pleased to announce that after having sat vacant for more than a year the two spots that I believe are crucial to the continued health of the Rebel Squadrons have been filled. BGN Steve Hawkins will serve as Minister of External Affairs and LCM Damon Lightwind will serve as Chief Recruiting Officer. Commander Lightwind has already managed to bring back a couple of veterans from the Reserves and it is truly a pleasure to welcome back Colonel Misko Markot and Captain Tarax Eosphoros Kor!

There are still vacancies on the Executive Staff and in a variety of positions within each Fleet. If you are interested in contributing to the Rebel Squadrons by serving, check out the open positions and apply! http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/jobs/

Lastly, as we continue to consider making changes to the Rebel Squadrons, you should check out http://wiki.rebelsquadrons.org/Main_Page to see what is being considered and to add any ideas that you have. Remember that this is our Club and we want it structured to best meet our needs.

I am sure that I have missed something or someone, but it is my intention to continue this type of communication with the members of the Rebel Squadrons frequently. So, if there is something you want addressed, contact me.

Congratulations everyone! Out for now.
