PBF 6.10 “Spyware”

"Sir incoming message from the High Command." the McGrath's communications officer said.

"Command? Transfer it to my office, please." Joshua Hawkins said as he closed the com link, and got up from his desk to start pacing around the room. "Of all the times for Jay to wander off, where are you I wonder." he said to no one in particular.

No sooner than the thought passed through his mind, than another message came though from the bridge. "Sir, channel transferred, Vice Admiral Borran awaiting your presence."

"Thank you." Josh said as he walked back to his desk and turned on the viewer. "Yes, Sir! What can I do for you?"

"I just received word from Intel, a spy is breaking cover to deliver important information to you. He must remain alive so we can get that information. This is not something that happens a lot, but it does happen. You should be receiving a message from the spy shortly."

"No offense, Sir, but do the imps think we're that addle brained?" Josh said as he was rubbing his chin thinking about this situation. It smelled like a trap. Suddenly the panel alerted him that there was an incoming message. "The message just arrived sir, I'll have my droid decode the message."

"I'm sure the captain of the Battleking knows the PBF has been hit hard by the revolving door of command. So he probably figured that last mission did us in. With no CO around the fleet would be like lost sheep without a shepherd. With Jay MIA, I've made you the new CO of the fleet."

"Aye, I was hoping Jay and I would change that and give the Imps a surprise, but that doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks Spokes I'll get right on this." As Josh turns his attention away momentarily to listen to Squeeks ramble on about something.

"Good luck. Spokes out." as Josh turned off the monitor and started thinking long and hard about Jay being MIA, and this spy business. "Well, looks like we have our next mission. Still, something about this bothers me. Squeeks, go over this transmission and the decoding. Make sure it's from our Spynet, and not a ploy. Transfer the info to this datapad when your done. I'll be on the bridge." As Josh got up and headed out the door Squeeks started making all sorts of happy noises, glad to be doing something for once.

After passing a few pilots and workers, and exchanging a few salutes, Josh makes his way to the bridge, to look into this spy who's breaking cover. Soon after he's on the bridge staring out the viewport, thinking more and more that it's a setup. Suddenly the datapad beeps with the decoded message and some notes from Squeeks. "Captain, I need your help. We need to damage this ship."

"We need to do what?!? Captain Lawah said while staring blankly at the general. "Why do we need to make this ship damaged?"

"Look damaged, not actually damaged. We need to fool the sensors and eyes of any incoming craft." Josh said as he hands a datapad with the translated message on it over to the captain. "Read this and you'll understand what I want to accomplish."

"Aye, I smell a setup here, General" the captain said as he was scratching his head thinking about the information. "Somehow fooling the outside sensors will not be enough. This spy is going to crack our computers and get the real info."

"Indeed, put together a team, I don't care who, but I want the computer systems changed to reflect the worst possible outcome if those two vette's smashed into us a few days ago. When this spy is due to arrive I want people outside 'doing repair work'. We haven't much time, the spy should be arriving in a couple days. Also, put in there some made up damage condition of the Windstorm as well. Don't make it look like we're dead, but just make up look like we're limping. Meanwhile I'll assemble the troops and let them know what is going on."

"Major Mremorsa, I'll need your help in this, Lieutenant Sorrel, you as well. We'll need to work fast to get this done. Don't worry General, it'll be done as you ask. " Captain Lawah said as he turned his attention to the matter at hand.

"I know you will captain, I know you will. "Josh said as he quietly slipped out of the conversation and headed back towards his office to think on things. "Should be an interesting setup we have here. I wonder just how dumb the captain of the Battleking takes us. Won't he be in for a surprise, he'll have a trap setup with everything, and I'll have a bigger trap for him."

As Josh entered the office he heard Squeeks chirping a few things, grabbing his datapad for translation he nods and smiles. "As I thought, a very good forging. Squeeks, I'll need you to make sure that when our guest is on board you monitor his activity and make sure he sees what we want him to see. You're going to see some files changed to report a worst case scenario from our last mission, make sure our guest doesn't deviate from those files." He smiles as Squeeks chirps his response. "Now I need to get the pilots together and give them the details, and see which one draws the short straw to go 'rescue' our spy."

Josh then makes his way to the briefing room and sounds the klaxxon's to alert all pilots to the briefing for their next mission. Once everyone is assembled he goes over exactly what has been planned and what's going to happen. Two of these lucky pilots are going to head out in Xwings and face whatever is sent in after the spy.

=======================================================================

We've seen a lot of friends and comrades go this past mission. It saddens me to see them leave. It's a small token of appreciation, but at this time I would like to bestow the PBF Medal of Excellence to Fed "Doc" Barron, and Licah Fox. Both of whom have served the PBF and their squads with Honor and Excellence. At this time, I would also like to congratulate Licah on becoming a Rear Admiral, and Doc for becoming a full colonel. Thank you both.

With the retiring of Fed , I have appointed the squad's XO as the acting CO. Should you wish the job, it's yours. If not I will ask for applicants. Cain Lyran, is now the acting CO's of Red. Please email me as soon as possible with your decision.

At this time I will also be taking applicants for Fleet XO and SO positions. You can use the Job Openings page, or email me directly. If you email me directly please tell me why you think you would be good for the poistion.

Merits for mission 6.09 have been counted and updated. At this time, the Medal of Victory goes to Licah Fox. Congratulations Licah. The Mission Report Medal, goes to Damon Lightwind, as he was the only one to turn in a narrative. Congratulations Damon.
