Rebel Squadrons: Righteous Indignation Division Newsletter 3/7/06

1) Ninjin and Chisha just wrapped up our first intersquad tournament. Congratulations go out to Chisha, which took the lead early and never stopped driving forward. In the last few days of the competition, Ninjin began to creep back into the picture, and now looks quite formidable, but Chisha pulled away, winning the event overall by a score of 50 to 36 over 22 matches. Raven was the top pilot overall, followed by Karredo and then Giz. Raven, I’ve nominated you for the Alliance Combat Dagger for your commanding performance in this tourney. Good job. Still, I have no doubt that your opponents are closing the gap on you daily. The next event shall be interesting.

Chisha:
Raven: 7-0-2
Giz: 4-1-0
Eric: 2-1-1
Feak: 0-2-0

Ninjin:
Karredo: 4-1-2
Jinx: 2-2-0
Blast: 0-4-1
Barnes: 0-1-0

2) While happy with the overall results of the tourney, I’d like to see more of you up and running and playing the game. As such, starting today and going till next Monday, we will be running ANOTHER COMPETITION to get you all prepped and ready. I sensed that when Ninjin was down a bit, some players seemed a bit timid to get in a match and play, for fear of losing points for their team. Since this is practice, that’s a bit silly, as you’re only going to miss out on learning, but anyway, here are the new rules:

a) Every man for himself: There are no teams, it’s completely individual
b) To encourage play, you get 1 point for playing and .5 for winning (for 1.5 a match max)
c) No points for ties
d) You have until 12:00 AM Tues (Monday Night)

Hopefully, this will get more of you out and playing, and now you won’t have one entire team on searching for matches while the other isn’t around. After this, we will be getting into the scene against others. I still think we need this practice round though, so hold nothing back in getting out there and mixing it up. Also, Task Force Usagi members are welcome to partake in this one (in fact, it'll help you get through the academy, so it's highly recommended)

3) At this point, I’m going to be watching the squads very closely to see who is playing. If you’re not, I’d like you to email me either A) to tell me that you plan on buying the game fairly soon or B) another reason that must be truly amazing. After this next tourney concludes, I will be sweeping the roster of any dead weight. If you’ve played in the last tourney or partake in this one, no need to contact me, I know you’re active.

4) Anton came up with a fairly nifty way to do an ITOD. I will have something for you by week’s end. It should be a fun way of extending your playing of EaW a bit beyond the MP world, while still being able to compete against squadmates.

5) Remember to look at our message boards where folks are posting their in-game MP names and their Xfire names (highly recommended to install this if you can, it actually comes with the game). The boards are at:

http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=20&sid=1dd0e59661ee5b7c189c3f68a5bb6466

Please get on the boards and post your info ASAP. Using the game and Xfire to arrange matches with your fellow RSers is the best way to go outside of the ingame Buddy List.

6) You can also log on to IRC. Our chat channel for the whole RS is where a lot of the matches are currently being set up. Our channel is on the undernet at #RS_BAR_AND_GRILL

7) Mods: Today, I’m gonna throw the spotlight on http://legacy.gamemod.net/ The Legacy of War Mod. It’s probably the only mod that our own Wes isn’t doing something on. But yeah, check it out, it looks pretty neat for a TC.

<< Star Wars: Legacy of War is an expansion mod that will add the New Republic, Imperial Remnant, Chiss, Yuuzhan Vong, and Galactic Alliance. In Single Player mode, the player will be able to traverse the entire Star Wars saga from Episode 5 onwards and fight some of the greatest battles of all time. The campaign will be enhanced and added onto also. As the game goes on, new faces will appear and new technology will be unlocked.>>

8) Also, if you’d like any general info on EaW, including tips and tactics, total conversions, mods, editing tools, or pretty much anything RS related beyond EaW, just check out the RS Wiki in general. It also has info on most anything I’ve mentioned here, including Xfire and IRC. Feel free to add to it, should you want to. Many of our Rsers have put up their bios there, or gotten into updating the sections they like the best.

9) Our main website is at: http://rf.rebelsquadrons.org/ri/ Wes is constantly updating the news, so be sure to check it often. (Which reminds me giz, can you update it with the final competition results and info on the new one?). The clubwide site is

10) Task Force Usagi is now taking cadets, under the command of Sconn. I’d like to welcome two new members aboard, Cadet Kane Skywalker and Cadet Shroomius. Drinks are on them for the duration of this week. I’ve already seen Shroomius on IRC, so he’s definitely findable for a couple rounds. :-P
