":)
Greetings, members of the Rebel Squadrons! This is my first official address to you as Rebel Squadrons Fleet Commander, and I hope it is the first of many, many more. High Command voted this past week to elect a new Fleet Commander, and that person is, as you now know -- me! It is a great honor and privilege to be able to serve you all in this position, and I hope I will be able to enhance the fun that you have here, as well as help create new and exciting things to participate in. I have made a list of projects for the RS to undertake in the near future, and if you are interested in helping out with any of them, let me know.

I suppose you might like to know a bit about me and what I've done in the RS. My career here has primarily been that of pilot, website guru, and project maker -- I've had a hand in many, if not most, of the new RS-wide projects you've seen in the past two or three years, and I have worked with the vast majority of our website, including nearly every page on the main site, but also various fleet, wing, and squadron websites. Those of you in flying fleets will know that I have flown many, many missions during my time here, and played many multiplayer matches in ORW2, WoW, and other events. I joined the Rebel Squadrons in 2001, after looking for a place that offered custom X-Wing missions. I have commanded RgF, R2F, and PBF during my time here, and I was RS Chief of Staff in 2004, as well as RS Internet Officer in 2003. Outside of the RS, I am a college student heading into my final year at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music in Ohio, where I play the pipe organ. I'm glad to have the opportunity to use my accumulated knowledge and understanding of the RS to lead it to good places in the future.

I will be releasing a State of the Rebel Squadrons address on Friday, covering the current status of our Fleets and Executive Offices, as well as specific plans for the future. It will also contain a number of rewards, including both promotions and medals, so if you know of anyone who deserves recognition for RS-wide activities, please let me know before then. There are a number of exciting things that are happening or have happened recently in the Executives, and I look forward to sharing them with you. I will also be accepting applications for certain executive positions.

Speaking of which, I need to fill a very important executive position: the Rebel Squadrons Executive Officer. If you are interested in this position, which is the second-highest in the RS, please send your application to me at Licah@likeafox.net. Please take some time with it; to aid you, here are some things I'd like to see included in your application:
- Experience with High Command, and your plan for leading them, which will likely be necessary at some point.
- Experience with the Executive Staff, and your areas of interest in RS-wide projects.
- Experience with each fleet in the RS: the units you've been a part of and thus have knowledge of how they work.
- Skills and traits that would serve you well in this position; your strengths and weaknesses.

The duties of the RSXO duties are far-ranging, and include leading HC in discussions, working on various Executive Office projects, working with various types of units, and full command of the Rebel Squadrons when I am on Leave. This is not an easy job, but it is very rewarding, and demands great care for our club. If you think you have what it takes, send me an application.

The deadline for RSXO applications is Thursday, July 20, at 11:59 p.m. EST. I will announce the new RSXO in the State of the RS address.

Once again, greetings to all of you as the new FC, and I hope our time together will be long and fruitful. I will be in touch again soon.

":)
