Here is what we have today:

1) Invasion Week II
The Rebel Squadrons finished in 5th place with 4 participating players.
LGN Michael Raven finished in 3rd place with 14 matches played! All those matches were wins! For this outstanding effort LGN Raven has been awarded the New Republic Medal of Honor and the Alliance Dagger. Congratulations and Keep it up! :D
Thanks for participation go also to COL Eric Skrevski, 1LT Xque and 1LT Kane Redron. 1LT Xque played 8 matches and helped to get the RS ranked in IW2. COL Skrevksi had 4 matches with 2 wins. 1LT Redron managed to get 2 matches in.
RS and RID merits have been updated. RID merits can be checked in the appropriate thread.
2) Galaxy Week I
The next event hosted by www.eclipticalrealms.com (ER) is the first Galaxy Week. This event will be space maps only! The date for GW is 15th - 21st September. The rules are not known yet, but it seems that heroes won't be used at all.
Remember that you need to be signed up for the EaW Rebel Squadrons roster on ER to be able to participate in GW.
3) RID Space Training Event
Although participation is what counts, it would be great if we would have a strong presence in Galaxy Week I. To motivate you to improve your playing skills, we will have a Space Training Event (STE) from 1st to 14th September. Rules are as follows:
- Matches may be arranged on the #rid channel on IRC, on Xfire, Teamspeak or directly in-game in the 'rebel' channel in the lobby on the US server.
- AI bots are not allowed.
- 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or 4v4 can be played.
- Match/es will be reported by sending me a screenshot of the destroyed station. (.jpg/.gif file please)
The settings will be as agreed with your opponent. The suggested settings are:
- Heroes: OFF, Superweapons: OFF, Starting units: ON
- Credits: 5000
- Each map should be played twice with players changing faction.
As this is a training event, it won't matter if you win a match. Therefore, 2 RID merits will be awarded for each match played (no matter if you win or lose). 5 additional merits will go to the player with most matches played. 3 additional merits to the player with 2nd most matches. Also there will be one RS merit for each match played.
4) 1v1 ladder
The RID 1v1 finishes its first 'round' on 31st August, so you can still get matches in for it. The next 'round' of the 1v1 ladder will be 22nd September to 31st October.
5) Teamspeak
We have members who use only Xfire and we have members who use only IRC. For those it could be good if they would arrange matches on Teamspeak. The address for the RS TS server is: 70.84.228.202:8802 . The password for the EaW channel is: rid .
Teamspeak is also a very good thing for in-game communication, as you can concentrate on the game instead of typing.
6) RID Yahoo Group
The RID has now its Yahoo Group, which will be used to discuss in-game tactics and other non-public issues. Join the group at:

7) ITOD 002
We already have some reports and a few narratives. The deadline for the 002 mission is 8th September.
8) Custom map contest
Well, no one submitted a custom skirmish map so far. Just to remind you, the contest was supposed to end 31st August. So, if you have a skirmish map you made, be sure to send it in. If there is someone who is interested in submitting a custom skirmish map, but hasn't found the time to complete it yet, then send me an email and let me know.
