Greetings, Members of the Rebel Squadrons!

First, I would like to thank my XO, Commodore Michael Raven, for doing an excellent job with the March SotRS. It was both informative and inspirational. I'm happy to be back in the writer's chair this month again. The past month has been an eventful one for us. Some of the very structure of the RS has changed, as will be apparent in the sections below. We've pushed on with our main storyline in both the Subterrel and Greeop Sectors. We have also been adding exciting new divisions. This is all great news! What does the future have in store for us? We're approaching an important but a difficult time of the year for the RS. Traditionally, the summer is seen as a double-edged sword for a club like ours. On the one hand, students especially have more time and perhaps could be expected to be even more active during the summer. But then again, the siren call of summer lures us outdoors and away from computers, which means that we can expect a dip in activity. Whatever you find interesting to do, rest assured that the RS Command Staff will not be on holiday over the summer and will continue to provide leadership and opportunities to be involved and enjoy that Star Wars universe we all know and love.

II. High Command News

The appearance of High Command has changed over the last month. The most noticeable addition is General Harley "Jester" Quinn as the new Redemption Fleet CO. Jester is currently seeking an RFXO. In other High Command news, both Aurora Force and Vanguard Fleet have disappeared from the HC roster. Aurora Force has been constituted as a separate wing without voting rights, while Vanguard Fleet has been moved into Redemption fleet and classified as a wing under the authority of the RFCO. This makes High Command a smaller voting body. HC has not had any discussions over the past month as its services have not been required.

III. Fleet & Division News Shorts

Patriot Battle Fleet: Tour 7 is ongoing! This tour has been quite exciting, and General Josh Hawkins is doing a great job of integrating the PBF into the RS-wide storyline by keeping the fleet connected in a fictional sense. There have been several connections between the PBF and the Greeop Defense Force (FC Narratives) so far, some subtle and some not so. Josh is currently working hard to get the next mission of the tour out to pilots and is also in need of Academy instructors for both X-Wing and TIE Fighter, so please email him if you are interested in helping.

Vigilance Starfighter Group: Tour 1 continues, and VSG104 was admittedly somewhat late in release. The coordination of the release of all these missions is not always easy. Nevertheless, I believe pilots will find that it was worth the wait. VSG pilots are participating in a multitude of WoW multiplayer events now that ORW3 has ended. VSG CO David Pasiechnyk is also busy trying to put together an exciting internal MP competition.

Allegiance Battle Group: The adventurers of the ABG have continued to sim over the past month, taking advantage of momentum gained from new members and old members rejoining.

Redemption Fleet: In the RF, Righteous Indignation Division and the Commando Division are both proceeding with their tours in line with the VSG missions. These missions all belong to the RS-wide storyline. General Codyman is providing RID with narratives for its missions that connect them more firmly to the RS-wide narratives written by Commodore Raven every month. Major General Anton "Ups" Nels is now leading the Jedi Division and has contributed an RS Jedi Outcast server to his work to provide JO players a place to congregate. Charybdis Wing, the home of audio drama in the RS, is busily putting out exciting episodes for all to hear. Vanguard Fleet has recently found a new home within the RF. On a sad note, the Strategic & Tactical Command (STC) Division has been pronounced dead and will be missed, but it was difficult to support games that few of our members played. Supervising all of this action is new RFCO Jester, who has many plans for the RF and from whom exciting things should be expected in the future.

Aurora Force: In the AF, a dedicated core group of writers is furiously writing about the beginning of the Vong invasion. The AF-Kids storyline, which follows the "Second Generation" of the characters created by AF writers has exploded with activity over the past two weeks. The setting of the Vong invasion is an interesting alternative to the RS-wide storyline, which is set more than fifteen years earlier.

IV. Introducing Zealot

As you know by now, Zealot Special Operations Unit was just recently founded this past month. A wing in the RF, this unit will be the standard writing group of the RS. Zealot will be closely linked with the RS-wide storyline, enabling members to write in the universe that XvT, XWA, BF2 and EaW players fight in. Zealot is commanded by LCM Abi Ocopaqui and General Codyman. Check out their wiki page here. It's always exciting to see a new division form, especially one with as many connections to other things going on in the RS as Zealot.

V. Executive Projects

As usual, the RS Command Staff has been heavily involved in the fiction of the RS-wide storyline. XO Raven has again released a narrative for the Subterrel campaign and I have updated the Greeop campaign with a new FC narrative. The Subterrel, Greeop, and PBF campaigns are all linked and exist in the same universe in the same timeline. You will continue to see them interact with each other and cross over as the storylines progress.

The Logistics Office was most busy this month with TacOps' release of VSG/RID/CD 104. The missions proved complicated to coordinate, leading to their late release, but they are of high quality and continue the high standard of the RS-wide ITOD.

Logistics Officer David Vaughan spent a considerable amount of time updating and expanding the Subterrel Strike Force wiki page so that Zealot would have an accurate fictional backdrop for its stories. The page is very impressive.

A new Training Officer has been appointed in the person of Lieutenant Colonel Luren "DaLe" Ketan. You all probably know Dale best for his work as CO of both RID and CD and also for serving as Assistant Operations Officer. Dale is very passionate about improving the way the Training Office works. He will be very much increasing the activity of the office and restructuring it, in addition to getting post-graduate training off the ground. Stay tuned to hear more about his plans.

A number of members of the executive staff contributed to the launching of Zealot by their advice and work. Special mention should go to IO Josh Hawkins who prepared a space on the roster for the unit. Josh also did quite a bit of work in adjusting the rosters of other units that changed status this past month and has kept our database running smoothly.

Admiral Rahj Tharen, the RS Minister of External Affairs, has been in touch with the New Republic Fifth Fleet recently. The NR5F is interested in what is happening in the RS and wants to maintain close ties with us, so Rahj has provided that club's representative with general reports about what the RS is doing in a broad sense. The NR5F was one of our close allies in ORW3 and it is nice to see that Rahj is keeping in touch with them for us.

April Fools! RS Command Staff played a fun April Fool's trick on you all on the first of the month. I know that we convinced several of you that the RS and EH were merging to form a new club, the ES. See a brief account of the fun at the RSHO page.

VI. Recognitions

Commander Terrak Jace deserves recognition for his continued graphic support of the Rebel Squadrons. He is always happy to create an image or assist somebody in fixing up a webpage, and we're all grateful for this. TJ, you are hereby awarded the Alvace Star for your constant helpfulness!

Major General Anton "Ups" Nels has made real sacrifices for the RS, especially for the Jedi Division. He has contributed not only his time but his resources in putting up a JO server for the RS. For his enthusiasm to help in all areas and his work for the JD, I am happy to award Anton an Iridium Spire!

General Harley "Jester" Quinn has been a quiet but reliable member of the TacOps mission creation team for several months now. He creates missions in a timely fashion and has been crucial in integrating the Commando Division into the RS-wide ITOD. For his work in the TacOps group, Jester is awarded the Iridium Spire!

General Codyman, known to the roster database as Danny "David Lee Japan" Qatar, has been tireless in his devotion to the new Zealot unit. His wheedling and cajoling has convinced many members to sign up with this writing group, and he has prompted activity with his stories. For setting an example for other leaders and for his encouragement, I hereby award the Iridium Spire to Cody!

Admiral Rahj Tharen's work in the Office of External Affairs has removed some of the work from my shoulders, for which I am very grateful. His diplomacy is commendable. For his outreach to other clubs, I am happy to award Rahj a Dagger of Courage!

Vice Admiral Tyrell "Spokes" Borran recently recovered from a fairly serious case of bacterial dysentery IRL, and came back to continue his work on the RS Medals system. Typically, the Violet Cluster medal is reserved for those wounded in gaming combat, but occasionally we step outside the bounds and award somebody with the medal for suffering RL harm. In recognition of his bout with illness, his victory over it, and his return to active duty, I hereby award Spokes a Violet Cluster!

Josh Hawkins - Josh needs no introduction. As PBF CO and IO, he contributes more to the RS on a daily basis than most people are aware of. Either one of these two jobs would be a handful, but Josh manages both with skill and grace. His assistance as IO has been especially invaluable to me, because whatever I can envision he is able to produce. It is thanks to Josh that our database has been functioning so smoothly and that our forums are free of spam. In recognition of all that he does for the RS, it is my pleasure to promote Josh to the rank of Commodore. Congratulations, Josh! ":)

Michael Raven - Raven wears many hats around here. Most of you may know him best for his RS-ITOD narratives that are released each month. Members of the ABG know and love him as their dedicated CO. For me, he is both friend and adviser. Raven was absolutely crucial in helping me to wind up the end of the ORW3 competition, writing fiction and providing advice on how to present the unexpected conclusion. His help while the competition was ongoing was no less important, as he frequently wrote the ORW3 NL for me. That work culminated in last month's SotRS, in which Raven displayed both a strong grasp of the RS and excellent communication skills. As impressive as all this is, he still continues to be an effective leader for the ABG on top of it. For his constant dedication to the RS and his work across a wide range of fields, I am happy to elevate Raven into the admiralty with the rank of Rear Admiral. Congratulations, RA_Raven! ":)

VII. Miscellaneous Notes

RS Wiki: The wiki is the headquarters of up-to-date RS information that anybody can edit. Members have been adding in information about themselves and their units, which is great! To clarify the information presented in the wiki, I have made the category "Characters" more prominent. This category is for all of your ALTERNATE characters. The category "People" includes ONLY your primary characters. These entries go in "People" because they also describe the real you and your contributions to the RS in your time here. Since your alternate characters need not explain anything about the real you and are only there for fictional purposes, they will be restricted to the "Characters" category. If you are confused about this, feel free to contact me.

Condolences: To the STC. We'll miss you, Rebellion and Galactic Battlegrounds. RIP. ":)

Congratulations: To Michael Raven on his Coruscant Star of Valor, to Jester on his appointment as RFCO, to DaLe on his appointment to TO, and to Terrak Jace, Olith Hesto, Hermann and Calista Fairbright on their promotions, all to the rank of Commander! It must be the month for getting that rank...

Contact me: If you have questions about anything going on in the RS, would like to be more involved, or have ideas, please feel free to email me any time!

The RS is running very smoothly right now. It's a great organization to be a part of, and that is due to the efforts of all of you to be friendly and encouraging to our new members. Thank you for all that you do. Let's continue to work at making this a better club, and more importantly, let's have some fun.

":)
