---Victory Star Destroyer Resurrection II---

Commander Olith Hesto hoped he didn't look as nervous as he felt as he walked towards the main hanger bay of the Resurrection II. He returned salutes as he passed other officers and ship's crew with as much military gusto as he could muster, but that didn't stop the occasional bead of sweat forming on his forehead as he continued. Finally he reached the cavernous bay; he quickly scanned the vast space and hurried to join the rest of the squadron. All available squad members were here to his relief, apart from Major-General David Vaughan who was on the Redemption with the Group Commander, Rear-Admiral Michael Raven. Just as well too, given the orders that Olith had concealed in his breast pocket.

He gave a quick address to the assembled pilots. "Listen up, guys. Short story is that we've been given authorization to take the Warden into enemy territory and seize some TIEs for the VSG. I'll have more for you once we're out there, but let's get on board our shuttle double-quick. I don't know how long it will be before Raven orders the captain of this rust-bucket to vent the atmosphere of this hanger bay to save his pride."

There were some nervous chuckles at this statement, but Olith knew how close Vaughan had tip-toed near the cliff edge to get them permission to do this. He waved to the squad to follow him to their designated shuttle. He waved his authorization to the nearby techs as they trooped up the boarding ramp and strapped themselves in. Olith took a deep breath as the ship powered up and began to rise off the deck.

---Imperial Star Destroyer Redemption---

Raven watched as the shuttle cleared the hanger bay on a monitor, and then the shuttle as it rounded the underside of the Resurrection II and move on its flight path to rendevous with the Warden. He turned to face the hologram of Vaughan, who could only stand there and wait looking sheepish. If looks could kill, Vaughan and his entire history right back to his most distant ancestors would have ceased to exist. General Harley "Jester" Quinn could only sit back in his command chair and look amused as Raven continued to stare at the holo-image, as if that alone would be enough to convince Vaughan to pull back the shuttle to the Resurrection II. Or worse, order the Redemption to shoot down the shuttle.

Raven finally spoke, in a quiet, menacing voice. "So. Dragon Squadron are off to get us some TIEs for our campaign, out here. You got what you wanted. Just pray that the Warden comes back safely or they won't be the only losses out there."

With this warning hanging in the air, Raven stalked off the bridge, muttering under his breath about insubordination, how FC Dave Trebonius-Astoris should die in a colourful fashion and other non-sequiters. Vaughan breathed out in relief as he made to close the connection. He was stopped as "Jester" called out after him.

"Lucky. I would have just shot you and be done with it."

Vaughan could only give the general an annoyed look as the image disappeared. Jester smiled as he watched the shuttle dock with the Warden.

---CR90 Corellian Corvette Warden---

Olith at last relaxed as the door shut behind him in his temporary quarters aboard the corvette. Cramped, to say the least. But at least it was better than feeling nervous as he had before onboard the Resurection II. Now that they were on their way, he turned towards the small desk next to the bunk and began to formulate a plan to get the fleet some shiny new toys to play with....

================================================================

Some basic information about this mission:

1) It takes place Beetween VSG105 and 106

2) The mission is versatile, being both a single-player and multiplayer mission. The multiplayer version increases in difficulty exponentially with each extra non-AI player than joins. The maximum number of players is four.

3) The mission is to be run on any difficulty setting, with Collisions On, Randomise Off, and Unlimited Weapons Off (or anything else that could be construed as an unfair advantage).

4) Every pilot who flies the mission is expected to report their first run through the mission, whether pass or fail, including a brief summary of what happened (Did you win? Did you lose? Which ships blew up?). If you want to write a full-fledged narrative, then all the better.

5) This mission is intended for Dragon Squadron, however it is open to other pilots to participate in.

6) All reports are to be sent to me at diablo83131@hotmail.com. Screenshots of the debriefing screen and details are to be sent, also.

7) The mission and accompanying files will be sent to you via e-mail.

8) The due date for this mission is the 15th of July. But don't wait until then; fly as soon as possible. Multiplayer runs are encouraged more than single-player runs, if possible.

9) I have various criteria for awards, beyond the obvious categories, so be sure to report as quickly as possible, kill as much as possible, and try to get as many people to fly with you as possible.

Only one small problem that will have Raven and Vaughan grinding thier continuity axes: Vaughan is currently relaxing back at Blerthmore with Dave and the rest of the GDF, not out with the SSF.

*Vaughan laughs at Jester's implication of 'relaxing' back in the home territories*

Good to see others on the ball correcting things before we have to ourselves. ;)
