VSG Newsletter 2-3-2008

Greetings pilots. Don’t mind the subject title in your email. This is still the NL with the 109 results inside. I just figured I’d have a little fun with Heavy. ;) Anyway, let’s get down to business.

1. ITOD
a. VSG 109
b. VSG 110
2. MP activity
3. Promotions
4. Current Events
5. Closing

I. ITOD
a. VSG 109

First, just let me say that I am somewhat perplexed by the lack of activity on this mission. The final versions of both the BoP and XWA missions were very entertaining and challenging, which is what the best pilots want. So if someone can explain to me why we had less than 40% activity on this, please let me know. That said, I thank everyone who flew or participated in one way or another.

Now, for the results:

Renegade Cup: Let me say that I was expecting competition. I WASN’T expecting this. Not only did this pilot score over 111k points and get the Mission Complete, but he did it all on Hard. I am proud to award the Renegade Cup to COM David “Heavy” Pasiechnyk. Congrats, Heavy!

Intrepid Cup: Keeping up with his consistent performance throughout the tour, I am pleased to award the Intrepid Cup to 1LT B’illiam. Congrats, B’illiam!

Mission Report Medal: Once again, I have no alternative but to award the Mission Report Medal to CPT Adhemar Volton. Don’t get comfortable, though. There was some serious competition with the return of CMDR Alexander Vandross to Dagger.

Top Gun: Well, this was interesting to say the least, but when it was all said and done, LCL Gavin Starseeker takes the Top Gun medal with 27 points, followed by CPT Adhemar Volton with 17 and RA Himm El-Synna with 16.

Top Squadron: This time, it came down to the final deadline in a very close battle for the Top Squadron award. However, when the dust cleared, it was Ragnarok taking the top honors with 134 points followed by Dragon with 131 and Dagger with 123.

b. VSG 110

Well, 110 will be released shortly after some polishing issues are taken care off. I expect some more activity from all of you. That’s why our activity goal is going to be at least 50% of all active pilots. If I don’t get that, I’m not going to be a happy CO.

II. Multiplayer

This mission period brought a welcome change on the MP front. For the first time in over a year, VSG pilots brought an MP victory to the RS in Missons War VII. Congrats to all who flew!

III. Promotions/Special Recognition

Well, I don’t have any promos or awards to pass out this time, but there are a few people who deserve a little recognition.

LCM Hyde was recently promoted based upon his performance within the Recruiting Office. Excellent work, Hyde!

COM David Vaughan was recently promoted for all of his wonderful work in the Logistics Office, as TacOps coordinator, and various other things that keep us all in line. Way to go, Vaughan!

Next, I want to recognize a person that I believe to be instrumental in my development in the RS. This person is a former FC and RgF CO and was in the AF for a good while. A couple of days ago, I noticed that this person celebrated 10 years in the RS. So, without further ado, I would like to extend personal congratulations to RA Gavin Cantorph Kravis for 10 years of service to the RS. Thanks for all you’ve done, Gav. “:)

IV. Current Events

Within the next few days, I shall be getting in touch with all of the VSG Command Staff to find out what’s going on with activity levels. Also, work will resume on the MP event that was in the works before the holidays.

V. Closing

That’s all I have for now. Stay tuned for further developments. I’ll let you know as soon as 110 is up and ready to go Until next time, fly fast, and shoot straight. I’ll see you back at base.
