VSG Newsletter: 5-21-2008
The stars flew past the Raging Dragon’s viewport in a blue blur, the bending light of hyperspace and the celebrations on the frigate’s O-Deck enough to make the young General smile. It had been a successful op to get their resupply convoy to the Redemption in one piece, providing vital supplies for the warships and fighters to keep up the fight against the Rogue Imperial faction. If Zealot’s information panned out, they just might be close to ending this particular conflict. Smiling with pride, Brigadier General Kirghy Lommax turned back towards the pilots seated at a rectangular table filled with drinks and credit chits. A rousing game of sabacc was just starting up, and he felt like a game. “Ok, deal me in,” he said as he tossed a decicred on the table. The dealer dealt and Kirghy looked at his hand. The Four of Staves and the Commander of Coins started him with a positive 16. He only needed 7 more positive points to have a Pure Sabacc. But like the universe, sabacc was a game that had twists and turns no one could anticipate. Deciding to press his luck, Kirghy threw another 15 credits into the hand pot. “Bet is 15.” He waited to see who would call. When 3 of the other players did, he smiled. This was going to be a fun hand.

Greetings Pilots,
Once again I have the pleasure of writing a newsletter for the best pilots in the ENTIRE RS. In this edition, we’ll have the 111 results and maybe some other important information. :P So without further ado, let’s get started!

a. VSG 111
It appears we’ve reached some level of consistency with 51% of all active pilots reporting on 111. Not necessarily what I had hoped for, but at least we’re not going backwards, and that’s a good sign. I am happy for all who did rep. Good job to everyone who participated.
Now, for the results:
Renegade Cup: I have to admit to being quite shocked when I saw this pilot’s score come across my inbox. I didn’t think a score this high was possible. However, it seems I was proved wrong. So, I am pleased to present the Renegade Cup to VA Tyrell “Spokes” Borran. Way to go, Spokes!
Intrepid Cup: Well, I guess I shouldn’t bee TOO surprised. This pilot has shown remarkable aptitude flying the XWA missions, earning his first IC last mission. Well, he’s turned in a repeat performance. The Intrepid Cup for 111 is hereby presented to CMDR Richo. Excellent job!
Mission Report Medal: However, this isn’t a total Dagger runaway. For not only turning in the ONLY narrative for 111, but an excellent one at that, I hereby present CMDR Brig Dolaree with the MRM for 111. Congrats, Brig!
Top Gun: Hold on, Brig. I’m not through with you yet. With a total of 17 merit points, you are the Top Gun for 111, followed by Vaughan with 16, and Heavy and Seeks at 15. Congrats again on a job well done!
Top Squadron: Ok, back to the Dagger love fest. With a total of 199 merits, Dagger Squadron is your Top Squadron for 111. Following behind are Ragnarok with 96 and Dragon with 90. Excellent job Dagger!
b. VSG 112
VSG 112 is complete and just requires that I get it on the server. I’ll send out a fleet-wide notice once that has occurred. I’ve done some testing on both missions and am confident that, if you try them, you’ll have loads of fun. The BoP mission does require the RS BoP Patch, so make sure you have it installed. The “nebula” makes for an interesting mission. (If you fly the BoP mission, you’ll see what I mean soon enough.)
II. Multiplayer
Since there was no activity that I am aware of on the MP front, that must mean that there weren’t any events we actually cared about. Hopefully another Missions War will be posted soon.
III. Promotions/Special Recognition
Ok, it’s time for some special recognition. I don’t have any promos to hand out this time, but some people/unit(s) deserve a little acknowledgement.
First, congratulations to Dagger Squadron. While they might not think they did it, they had 100% of all active pilots report for 111. Now, the past couple of times, the Valorous Unit Citation was issued, mainly because I didn’t have anything to recognize this achievement. However, it is important that the VUC not be overused as to reduce its value. So, I have created a new VSG medal to fill the gap.
Pilots, I hereby introduce to you the Vigilance Dagger. While serving as the medal that is issued to a unit having 100% of active pilots reporting on a mission, it also serves a secondary function: to honor the pilots of Dagger Squadron for their example of excellence. Just goes to show. If you work hard, your unit may have a medal named after it.
Also, I would like to point out that Red Dragon has a new CO. CMDR Brig Dolaree has taken on the role of squadron leader and has appointed CPT Adam Mieter as his XO. I know Brig has a lot of plans for RDS to improve it and make it among the elite units in the Fleet. Good luck, Brig, and congratulations!
IV. Current Events
There is not really anything new to report at this time. I do plan on addressing a couple of topics with the fleet and squadron leadership. I’ll let you know of further developments.
V. Closing
That’s all I have for now. I’ll let you know as soon as 112 is up and ready to go. Until next time, fly fast, and shoot straight. I’ll see you back at base.
":)
