State of the Rebel Squadrons-
Tour News-
Recently we reached the end of the initial phase in the ongoing RS Interactive Tour of Duty. For those who may have only joined us recently, the RSTOD began as an ambitious project aimed at bringing all of our various divisions into the same unified storyline. Now that we've completed Tour 1, I feel it safe to say that the project has been an overwhelming success. For the first time in the history of the Rebel Squadrons, missions throughout our supported platforms are all geared towards the same set of goals, and each member who participates is able to actively affect the success or failure of those goals.
As we move forward into RS Tour 2, I'd like to take a moment to thank everyone who has contributed over the past months to ensure Tour 1 was as successful as it was, from people who built the missions, to those who ran them and those who wrote the fiction that tied the whole thing together. With the lessons learned and the continued participation of everyone involved, I'm sure we can make Tour 2 an even bigger success.
High Command-
Following in the wake up MGN Max Cal's resignation as Commanding Officer of RF, I'm pleased to announce that BGN Markus Jarnhann was selected to assume his position. Markus has done a lot of different things during his time in the RS, and I know I'm not the only one looking forward to see what he can do at the reigns of Redemption. In addition, LCL Jalen Ramz has been selected to take up the position of RFXO. Congratulations to you both and good luck on your new positions.
Recognition-
BGN Damon Lightwind has served as our Recruiting Officer for quite some time, a position that may often be overlooked in terms of importance for the Rebel Squadrons. Damon has gone out of his way to help get our name out among potential recruits and help ensure they're put into contact with the proper people once they do decide to join. Without Damon and the work his office does, it's unlikely we'd have as many new members joining our club, and its a bit past time that was recognized. Damon, for your work as RS Recruiting Officer I'm pleased to promote you to the rank of Major General.
RA Danny “David Lee Japan” Qatar, also known as Cody has been with the RS since shortly after the molten Earth began to cool. In more recent times, Cody’s been the driving force behind the Zealot writing unit. While traveling around various parts of Asia and terrorizing Japanese authorities, he’s still managed to poke, prod and motivate Zealot into participation. For this continued single minded dedication to ensuring Zealot thrives, and because he’s also about 90% responsible for the RS Fantasy Football group actually happening this year, I’m happy to promote you to the rank of Vice Admiral.
Congratulations to you both, and as always I’d like to remind everyone that the only way to see someone recognized at the club level in an address is to make sure you put their name forward beforehand. So if you know of someone who you feel is deserving of a little extra praise come SotRS time, drop me an email or catch me on IRC.
Closing-
Historically the Fall months have always been our slow months in regards to participation and activity levels. People are heading back to school or taking on other new responsibilities and this often leads to little time to devote to their usual club duties. Despite that, it’s important that we all still try to do our best to maintain all aspects of the RS. Thank you to all of you who continually manage to handle your assigned duties regardless of everything else you may have to take care of.
