To everyone -- Sorry for so many e-mails in so many days; but trying to put the right butt in the RSFC chair is kind of a pain in the well...rear.

In an attempt to keep RS members involved as well as get this done quickly, a vote will be called at 11:59 PM EST November 25th.

Candidates for the office of Rebel Squadrons Fleet Commander have been asked to make a final "selling pitch" to RSHC as well as the club at large. You can read these responses here: http://rebelsquadrons.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=3065

Since I'm acting as RSFC for the immediate time being, I'd like to just throw something out here as food for thought.

In this FC election, some things are seriously screwed up. Read through the RS Bylaws and then consider this scenario for the current election...

Here are the Voting Members of High Command that will choose the new FC (and their profiles: http://rebelsquadrons.org/roster/hc):

Voting for the...
PSG: Spokes
RF: Kaz (Markus running; vote defers to RFXO)
ABG: Sconn (Raven running; vote defers to ABG XO)
VSG: Richo (Kirghy running; vote defers to VSG XO)

Voting as RS Aldermen:
Biggy
Rahj
Lamin
Damon
Gavin

About this voting lineup, anyone taking a look at it will notice some obvious interesting scenarios that come up regarding the RS Bylaws and Line of Succession.

To preface, we'll be following the "official" RS Line of Succession on the Fleet Commander's page:

Fleet Commander: Rear Admiral Sienn Sconn
Executive Officer: Brigadier General Kirghy Lommax
Second Officer: Vice Admiral Michael Raven
Third Officer: Vice Admiral Tyrell "Spokes" Borran
Fourth Officer: Brigadier General Markus Jarnhann
Fifth Officer: Rear Admiral Licah Fox
Sixth Officer: Rear Admiral David "Heavy" Pasiechnyk
Seventh Officer: Brigadier General Eric Reagan
Eighth Officer: Vice Admiral Danny "David Lee Japan" Qatar
Ninth Officer: Admiral Lucas Benoit-Stark

Last updated January 18, 2009.

The last updated date makes it obvious that this is a completely outdated Line of Succession. However, the Line of Succession is also the FC's responsibility to maintain, and this is the one listed on the RSFC site.

Barring a 70% decision of RSHC to discard this line of succession, the vote moves into an interesting situation that I feel compelled to outline so that everyone knows exactly what will transpire in the case of a tie by the original vote cast by RS High Command, because quite honestly, it's a hilarious complication of the RS bylaws.

Per the bylaws, a tie vote is broken by the RSFC -- the FC or acting RSFC would then cast the tiebreaking vote. However, Sconn is already voting as ABG XO, and therefore, can't cast this vote.

The tie would then pass to the RSXO, or acting RSXO. Rahj, in this case. However, Rahj is already voting as an RS Alderman, and therefore, can't cast this vote.

From there, the vote moves on down the RS Line of Succession; passing to Raven (already running, can't vote), Spokes (already voted, can't cast 2 votes), Markus (already running, can't vote), to Licah (on LOA, considered not eligible to vote), down to Rear Admiral David "Heavy" Pasiechnyk, who, as "RS Sixth Officer" will actually cast the deciding vote in the case of a tiebreaker. For the gamblers out there; I wouldn't vote on Heavy D's decision, if he would even potentially have to break the tie.

With that tidbit of RS Bylaw education aside; I encourage everyone to read thoughtfully the responses written by the RSFC candidates and express your opinions to the respective Division COs or members voting on the behalf of your units.

Acting RSFC
