State of the Rebel Squadrons – May 4, 2010

Members of the Rebel Squadrons, good evening. I apologize for the delay in getting this out, but there was an unfortunate death in the family that I had to deal with first.

As you may or may not be aware, the RS Restructuring plan is in the process of being implemented. One of the major parts of this plan is making the RS Squadron-centric. Former FC Admiral Raven started polls for each Division to determine which of their units would survive. Upon my election, I ordered those polls closed. As a result, the squadrons that will be transitioned to the new structure are:

PSG: FireClaw, Gold, Red
VSG: Red Dragon, Dagger, Resurrection
ABG: Renegade, Rapier, Lancer
RF: Zealot, Task Force Shochu, Task Force Ninjin

Congratulations to these units! However, this leaves many other members that will be forced with the decision of which unit to join up with due to their own unit being disbanded. Those who are in more than one of these units will have to select one, and only one, to be a member of. An example of this last scenario is, well, myself. I am in Zealot and Task Force Shochu. I can choose to be in one or the other, but not both. I could also decide to join another unit and not be in either one of them. As long as I am in ONE squadron, there is no problem.

Being in one squadron is not an issue because they will not be defined by their games and/or other platforms. Instead, they will be defined by their membership. Members may participate in ANY RS activity they so choose, regardless of squadron.

So, I ask that everyone give thought to what your Top 3 choices will be so that when we finally are ready to receive your requests, we can place you accordingly. Also, no moves will be made without your knowledge and approval. Be aware, however, that the Command Staff reserves the right to place you where it is felt that you are most needed, as with a Division structure. We will try to keep the units as balanced as possible.

Also, there must be something for the units to do. Activities will be the responsibility of the Operations Office and officers who shall be “Platform Coordinators”. The general idea behind the PCs is that there is one for each gaming and activity platform in the RS. XW, TF, XvT, XWA, EaW, Simming, Writing, etc. will all have their own PC, at least as far as the general idea goes. The PCs will be responsible for creating the actual activities while the Operations Office will be mainly responsible for distribution. Platform Coordinators will be fleshed out in more detail shortly when I bring this topic before HC.

There must also be a strong Operations Officer to coordinate with. Due to lack of response, I have been forced to relieve CPT Max Reem from this position. As of yet, I have not appointed a new OO. So, if you have strong organizational skills, can think outside the box as far as activities are concerned, and can tie activities in to the RS’s section of the Star Wars universe in a fictional manner and feel like you would make a good Operations Officer, contact me at kirghylommax@gmail.com with your qualifications.

Within a few months, we should be switched over to the new structure. I look forward to helping the RS move into the 21st Century. Now for some Division and Executive Office news.

VSG:

The VSG has progressed to mission 3.03, and the Command Staff is looking forward to seeing some more activity among the pilots. The 3.02 results have been released and medals awarded. Congratulations to all the winners. New missions are in the process of being built. Lot of new promotions were also awarded for hard work and great performance. Congratulations to you all!

PSG:

PSG pilots are currently awaiting their next mission. In the meantime, narratives are still being accepted. So, if you’ve got the need the write what your pilot’s doing next, submit that narrative! Mission should be out soon.

ABG:

Well, the ABG is still as active as ever. Sims are constantly being scheduled and run to the enjoyment of its members. Of particular interest are the recent rules updates which are available for viewing on the ABG homepage, including an important update to Jedi. They’ve just recently added a bunch of fixes to the manual, are constantly re-evaluating their system, and should be adding some more stuff soon.

Zealot:

Ok, with the recent FC election, Zealot has stalled somewhat, but now’s the perfect time to jump in. With the Zealot team on Nar Shaadda, who knows what to expect? First the team’s ex-demolitionist, thought dead, returns and almost manages to blow up her former teammates. But the question is, who’s pulling Kaitlyn Anderson’s strings, and who wants the Zealots dead that badly?

RID:

Well, 205 is over and done with. Now we’re just awaiting the release of 206 so that we can continue our domination of any Imperial, Pirate, or Merc vagrants that seek to terrorize our citizens. Anyone interested in making EaW missions should contact CMDR Teu Veld.

Other News:

Now to some more important business. Over the past several years, the financial backing for the Rebel Squadrons domain has been provided by RA Snappleguy. In most cases, he has singlehandedly taken care of the RS finances himself. However, it is time for the rest of us to step up to the plate. Snap would like to stop paying everything out of his pocket. I don’t blame him. It’s not right to make one person pay for all of us, especially when there are some of us out there that may have a little bit of disposable income they can spare, and we have made it easy to help through the usage of PayPal. Just go to www.rebelsquadrons.org/donations, type the amount you want to donate, and click the “Donate” button. If you have a PayPal account, it’s that simple. If you don’t, then get one. And don’t think I’m asking you to do something I wouldn’t do myself. I just donated $50 this past Friday to help out a bit. Our monthly bill’s $100, so we need some more. If you have the money and can afford to help out this great club, please do. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Executive Office New:

There have been a few changes to the Executive Offices as follows:

Major General Daryus Zalyn`Cya has been appointed the new Historical Officer, effectively switching places with FA Super, who is now the Assistant Historical Officer. Congrats, Daryus!

TacOps has, for the moment anyway, been disbanded.

Need a new Operations Officer. See above for contact information.

Promotions/Awards:

Ok, it’s time for the important part of the SotRS. So, here we go!

The first person I’d like to recognize is someone that not even I, the FC, can promote. It’s not because he’s not eligible. It’s just that you can’t get higher than a Fleet Admiral around here. He’s been instrumental in keeping activity going in Zealot for some time now, stepping in and assisting Cody even without being on the CS. So, for encouraging activity and communication within his unit, going above and beyond the call of duty to do so, I herby award the Iridium Spire to FA Kaz Falcion. Congratulations, Kaz!

There is another RSer out there who has made quite a splash lately: CMDR Teu Veld. She’s shown dedication to the club and a genuine desire to see it succeed. In just over 2 years, she has transitioned from being just an ABGer to being the RID CO, RF SO, and an RS Alderman on High Command. In fact, during the recent FC election, she became the first female in RS history to ever run for the position. So, for her dedication and service to not only her individual units, but to the RS as a whole, I hereby promote Teu Veld to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Congratulations, Teu!

The next couple of promotions come upon recommendation of ADM Michael Raven, ABG CO and Former FC.

“For his years of dedicated service... I really can't say enough good things about Carl. He's been there through thick and thin. He's been through the best and worst... and still comes back to do whatever he needs to do in order to make this place great. He's had dozens of ideas which have become systems, and has enriched the ABG and my own personal life through his sacrifices, dedication, and drive.”

For this reason and all of the work he puts into enriching the RS as a whole, I hereby promote Cyrel Vandroth to the rank of Vice Admiral. Congratulations, Cyrel!

“Greg has been an invaluable assistance to the furtherment of our system and our way of doing things. His campaign, which just concluded, was a testiment to the work that he puts into the ABG, and his drive to do what it takes to allow other people the full enjoyment of the fleet.”

So, upon the recommendation of his CO, I do hereby promote Rhuryc to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Congratulations, Rhuryc!

This next individual is someone I’ve watched the past couple of years. He’s a pilot who’s served Dagger Squadron as its leader as it has completely dominated the VSG. He’s served as my right hand as VSG XO. Now, he’s showing he can get the job done as VSG CO. I’m speaking of none other than COL Richo. His dedication and service to the VSG are undeniable. Richo, in appreciation of your service to the VSG, I hereby promote you to Brigadier General. Congratulations, Richo!

Finally, there is one more order of business to attend to. This is more of a disciplinary matter. Vice Admiral Sienn “The Rot” Sconn, step forward. You have been charged with the following:

1. Going above and beyond the call of duty
2. Working tirelessly through situations for the betterment of the RS, doing things behind the scenes that others are unaware of
3. Serving consistently and admirably in your position as a member of HC
4. Putting the good of the RS above the good of yourself
5. Being willing to serve as FC and serving as RS XO now for 3 consecutive FCs

Most importantly, you are charged with winning the respect of those you serve with. You have been tried by a jury of your peers and have been found Guilty of all charges. Before I pass sentence on you, I would just like to say that I’ve known you for the vast majority of the past 10 years. I consider you to be a friend and someone who loves this club as much, if not more, than I do. As Fleet Commander of the Rebel Squadrons, I hereby announce that your sentence is to be promoted to the rank of full Admiral. Congratulations, Sconn! Drinks are on you!

Also, the ABG CO, ADM Michael Raven had a brief message to add to this.

“I knew (through a birdie) that Sconn was going to be promoted in this SotRS... was going to recommend him, but OBVIOUSLY someone was going to beat me to the punch! That being said... I'd like to say a few words:

Is Sconn”

Well, that’s all I have for right now. Get ready to see some work on the Restructuring Plan in the very near future. Thank you all, and good night.

Yours in H.I.E.R.,

Lieutenant General Kirghy Lommax
Rebel Squadrons Fleet Commander
