Members of the Rebel Squadrons,

It is my pleasure to officially announce the beginning of our "dry run" of the new Reorganization system. Within the next 24 hours, missions for X-Wing, TIE Fighter, XvT, XWA, and EaW will be released. These missions may be run by any member of the RS, regardless of membership in the units dedicated to those platforms. XvT and XWA missions will be reported using the VSG reporter while EaW missions will be reported using the RID reporter, both of which are linked to on the main RS page and are usable by any RS member. Instructions on reporting can be be found at http://vsg.rebelsquadrons.org/itod for XvT and XWA. EaW reporting has the same basic requirements except for score. Screenshots are mandatory.

X-Wing and TIE missions will be reported to pbfreports@yahoogroups.com, an open email list. Also, please follow procedures for reporting XW and TF missions as listed on the PSG website at http://pbf.rebelsquadrons.org/missions/current, and I suggest using some of the tools at http://pbf.rebelsquadrons.org/files/ for calculating your RS score for the XW mission. Should you need help with this, contact a member of the PSG command staff.

Not only are our gaming platforms open to everyone, but our other platforms are as well. Fiction, simming (If you don't already have a character sheet, you will need to get help from a simmer who has been certified to assist with new char sheet creation. I also recommend attending a training sim if you've never simmed before or if you need a refresher), and other activities.

For this dry run, Fiction is the featured activity. As such, while all other reports shall be worth 1 point, fiction shall be worth 2 if there is significant participation in the RS-wide runon (at least 5 posts with 2 or more paragraphs) or with submission of a "day-in-the-life" narrative for your character of at least 500 words (and yes, Sconn WILL count them all).

Scoring will be kept by the RSXO, ADM Sienn Sconn. However, due to the fact that Sconn will be participating, we have both agreed that having someone impartial assist Sconn with the score keeping would be a good idea. As such, FA Dave Trebonious-Astoris, former FC and a current Minister of Justice, will assist. Below is the scoring structure and the top 3 club-wide medals.

Dry Run for Reorg Competition --

Scoring:
1 pt for the following activities:

Historical Mission from the RS Mission DB
One simming session (not charsims; includes GMing)
Current ITOD missions
Fictional activities not related to the RS-wide fiction (Star Wars poetry, regular mission reports)
Any sort of multiplayer activity (any platform, including non-SW
related - Xbox 360; etc.)
Misc. Activities not listed above - creating graphics, etc. To be assigned at the FC/OO's discretion.

2 pts for the following activities:

RS Wide Fiction (Runon and "fiction of the month")

Medals:

RS Top Gun – Awarded to the member with the highest number of activity
points for a given activity period.

RS Top Squadron – Awarded to the squadron with the highest number of
activity points for a given activity period.

Mission Report Medal – Awarded to the member with the best narrative as decided by the membership and overseen by a committee of 3 or 5
members in case of a tie.

Squadrons

For this dry run, you will select exactly ONE squadron for your activity to be credited to. This will be your squadron for all activities during the dry run. You may select any currently active squadron in the RS. Please make sure your reports make mention of your squadron selection. For example, if I submit a report and choose Ragnarok Squadron, all of my activity during the dry run, regardless of what it is, is credited to Ragnarok.

Also, if you would like to take this opportunity to choose your squadron for the new Reorganized structure, make sure you also indicate your selection in at least one report. It may be better to do this for multiple reports. The available squadrons for this choice are listed at http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/roster/fleet?name=Rebel+Squadrons. So, that's the squadron you want to be counted in for the dry run AND the squadron you want to be in when the Reorg is done. If we can get both, that will save us some time later on.

Thank you all for your patience as we got things ready for this. I hope that everyone has fun and approaches this with an open mind. Good night, and good luck. Let the games begin!

I have a question that I think most people may have regarding the reporting of Multiplayer matches:

"Any sort of multiplayer activity (any platform, including non-SW
related - Xbox 360; etc.)"

XvT, XWA, EaW, other Star Wars PC games I can see that a screenshot should be sufficient, but who will we be submitting these to? Current CS for the gaming fleets? Or to Sconn and Dave?

Non-SW games, Xbox, etc.: What are you looking for here? Non-SW PC games with other RSers could probably use a screenshot too, depending on the game, but what about Xbox? How would we report gaming with other RSers for credit here?
FA Joshua Hawkins - Thu Jul 15 2010, 12:28am
XWA,XvT reports should use the VSG reporter. It's already setup to email everyone who needs to be. It's also setup as to list every squad that's active in the RS. So people can use their "chosen" squad. The XW and TIE should be followed as instructed and email pilot files and/or screenshots to the PBF yahoo group. I think the EAW reporter is setup as well, I'll have to double check.

As for non-computer games, I haven't the foggiest.
ADM David "Heavy" Pasiechnyk - Thu Jul 15 2010, 4:10pm
I did a double check of the reporters Josh, and you updated the ITOD reporters, but not the Multiplayer Reporters, so I took the liberty of doing so myself. I'll just double check the EaW one after this as well.

So, same question about non-computer games (as well as non-standard PC games) goes to Kirghy and Sconn.

I would think that a screenshot for non-SW PC games would work. If a program doesn't support taking screenshots as a native function, I do recommend Fraps for that purpose. Just go to www.fraps.com to download the free version. Unless you buy the registered version, it only saves in .bmp format, so you'll need something to convert it to a .jpg or other format. Then just email that to Sconn, Dave, and myself.

As far as consoles, I feel like a total idiot for not thinking of this and can only thank Sconn for this one: Take a picture of your TV showing the scoreboard at the end of the match with your camera, cell phone, webcam, etc. and email that in to us. Pretty simple to me.

I am not sure if its just my Tie, or if its both Tie AND Xwing... but i cant take ss of these games. I dont get it, because it works just fine in my XWA and XVT games. But really, when i SS the tie and xwing games, the screen shows up, but you cant read anything. How can i fix this? I usually just send my pilot files into the PBF reports... but i would like to send ss, too.
FA Tyrell "Spokes" Borran - Sun Jul 18 2010, 4:52pm
http://www.fraps.com will get you FRAPs and it works with X-Wing and TIE and nearly every other game I play. There is a free version.

Also, something that might be clear about the Non-SW PC games and/or Console games...this might have been made clear already, but I've had a really long day, and I'm not totally sure - in order to get credit for these types of MP activity, you need to participate with another RS member, either head to head or as a team. The idea being that the underlying philosophy behind the dry run and by proxy, the reorganization idea is to increase activity - you sitting on your console by yourself isn't increasing RS activity, but getting 3 other RSers to play some Left 4 Dead or something is something y'all are doing as members of the same club. That said...Xbox gamers, let's do it up. :-P
