Members of the RS—

Over the past year, you’ve heard a lot about how the RS was going to be reorganized. Maybe it was a note that “we’re still working on getting things finalized for the Reorg” or “the Reorg is coming along well”. Some of you may even recall my announcement in March that we would have it done in a “couple of weeks barring unforeseen circumstances”. Unfortunately, the “unforeseen circumstance” reared its ugly head. The problem was a lack of ready missions to be released to you. However, we have that solved now and are working to keep it from hindering us in the future.

Tonight, I come to you to announce that the Reorganization of the RS is officially “live”. This means several things are going to happen very shortly.

1. The RS is no longer a club containing many fleets. That means that the PSG, VSG, ABG, and RF are officially retired units. The RS is now a fleet containing nine (9) Squadrons. The official roster can be found at http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/roster/new.
2. Fleet webpages and subdomains have been archived for historical purposes. If you need information about one of our platforms, you will have to visit the subdomain for that platform. For instance, XvT is no longer at http://vsg.rebelsquadron.org. It is now at http://xvt.rebelsquadrons.org. The complete list of subdomains is:

http://xwing.rebelsquadrons.org
http://tie.rebelsquadrons.org
http://xvt.rebelsquadrons.org
http://xwa.rebelsquadrons.org
http://eaw.rebelsquadrons.org
http://rpg.rebelsquadrons.org
http://writing.rebelsquadrons.org

It will take a while to get the links updated throughout the site and to get these new subdomains updated, so please bear with us as we get that done.

3. Each person is a member of one (1) Squadron. From that Squadron, you are free to engage in any and all activities that the RS supports.
4. Medals awarded based upon activity are done so based upon member scoring in Single-Player or Multi-Player activity using the RS scoring system for club-wide medals and performance within a mission or other activity for platform-specific medals.
5. Platform Coordinators for each platform are responsible for planning and releasing missions and activities for their specific platform(s).
6. The Operations Officer works with the PCs on mission launches, is the RS Official Scorekeeper, and determines the special activities and Activity of the Month.
7. New RS Bylaws go into effect to reflect the changes that the Reorganization brings to the club. Note: Sections 1-4 ONLY will change.
I hope I didn’t miss anything right there. If I did, we’ll get to it later.

At this time, missions have been or are going to be released by the Platform Coordinators. I am aware that the XW and TF missions have been released, but the due date was entered incorrectly when the mission was added to the site. So, the current XW and TF missions are on the ITOD page, but the main page will not reflect that until we can fix the due date problem. The Activity of the Month (AotM) is XvT. Everything is due at the end of the month (May 31, 2011 @ 11:59 pm EDT)

The Special Activity is a Squadron event. In the IC Topic forum on the RS site (under the Fiction header) your Squadron, should you choose to participate, will start a story thread about how pulling a prank on another Squadron. This must be completed by 11:59 pm EDT, May 31, 2011. Each Squadron that participates will receive bonus points toward the Top Squadron award and perhaps other goodies.

I’d like to thank all of you for your patience and understanding in this time of transition. I’d also like you to know that this is not the end. We’re going to continuously tweak things that need tweaking. We’re going to work towards strengthening our relations with other clubs. We’re going to work on integrating the new TOR MMO into the club if at all possible. In other words, we’ve got a lot of work still to do, but at least we have laid the foundation.

I’m pretty sure I missed something, but I’m tired now and have to get up in a few hours to go to work. So, enjoy yourself, see the sights, and pay attention, because things are happening in the RS. Good night, and Happy Reorganization Day!
