New Fleet Commander
Dear Rebel Squadrons members,
My name is Lamin Zykara, and I am privileged to have just been appointed the 22nd Fleet Commander of the Rebel Squadrons. As this is probably something of a surprise to everyone, let me explain a bit more.
About a week ago, Admiral David "Heavy" Pasiechnyk tendered his resignation to the High Command due to real-life issues. After a brief selection process, High Command has named me as his successor. I think I know most of you, but for those who haven't met me, please feel free to scope out the article about me on the RS Wiki.
Going forward, I have a lot of plans and ideas for improving the Rebel Squadrons. With that said, those plans and ideas aren't worth anything without the help of a lot of good RS members. So, I'm officially putting out a request for feedback, ideas, concerns, suggestions, help, questions - anything. My door is always open for any RS member; just email me at fc@rebelsquadrons.org.
Now, down to a few items of preliminary business.
New Aldermen
I will be appointing two new voting members to the High Command within the next two weeks; these two new aldermen will be coming from a new pool of members who have never been on the High Command. If you have any interest at all in serving on High Command and you've never been a member before, please contact me to express your interest (fc@rebelsquadrons.org) before 11:59:59PM EDT March 21, 2014.
Promotions & Awards
I am asking every member of the RS to think about your fellow members and ask who you would like to recognize with some kind of award or promotion, and to share your thoughts with me (fc@rebelsquadrons.org) by 11:59:59PM EDT March 21, 2014. This is for ALL MEMBERS, not just Squad COs or Platform Coordinators; anyone who wants to suggest an award or promotion for a fellow member should let me know.
Organization
I will be doing some reorganization of our senior leadership and executive staff in the next few weeks. If you have an interest in doing something at the club level, please (you guessed it) contact me at fc@rebelsquadrons.org before 11:59:59PM EDT March 21, 2014. As things go forward, more explicit job descriptions and such will be made available to the club, but for now I am seeking to gauge general interest from the membership.
I'm looking forward to this opportunity to lead the Rebel Squadrons, a club I've been a member of for almost 14 years, and I hope you all share my enthusiasm. Keep your eyes peeled for many more updates and messages coming in the next few weeks.
