Roster updates and new appointments
Dear fellow members,
It has now been about a month since my election to the office of Fleet Commander. During that time, I've managed to get sick once, go on semi-LOA due to bad connectivity in a vacation location, and fend off a wasp attack on my face. So, all things considered, a bit of a busy patch! But I've also started work on some new initiatives, currently being discussed by High Command and soon to be shared with everyone, that I hope will make the club a better place.
One of the key things any new Fleet Commander needs to do is set up their key staff and their High Command. Over the past month, I've been working with the membership of High Command to make appointments, restructure our leadership, and get us moving in the right direction. This hasn't been an overnight process, and there have been a lot of piecemeal changes as we've gone on. Those appear to be drawing to a close, and so I wanted to summarize the changes in a single news post.
First, I have updated the Command Roster and Executives Roster to be accurate to the current appointments. As you will see, there have been some changes to the offices of both rosters.
In terms of the membership of High Command, I have appointed Commander Hermus Dogan, Fleet Admiral Kaz Falcion, and Admiral Danny "David Lee Japan" Qatar as new Platform Coordinators on the High Command, joining Fleet Admiral Michael Raven who is continuing in his role as the RPG Coordinator. These three new Platform Coordinators cover Legacy Gaming, Modern Gaming, and Publishing / Propeganda.
Hermus Dogan, who was previously serving as the X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter and X-Wing Alliance Coordinator, is now the Legacy Gaming Coordinator. In this role, Hermus is taking responsibility for all of the older, core Star Wars games that we have played for years, such as the flight simulators and Empire at War. Hermus is going to need a lot of help; anyone who is willing to assist should contact Hermus, as I'm sure he can use the spare hands.
Kaz Falcion, who needs no introduction from me, is now the Modern Gaming Coordinator. Kaz will be overseeing all of the more modern games the RS participates in, including Star Wars: The Old Republic, as well as the bevy of non-Star Wars games that we are investigating. I know that there has been concern that the club was moving away from being a Star Wars club, to simply being a gaming club, and I want to assure everyone that this is not the case. My view of the club is that each member should have a chance to play games that they enjoy, and that any time a few members get together and have fun, that's a good thing. To that end, we are working on making a system that lets members with similar interests get together to have fun, whether that means ITODs or Minecraft or Warframe. More on this is coming, but I wanted to address this now. Like Hermus, Kaz will need a lot of help, so if anyone is interested in assisting him, definitely do reach out.
Danny "David Lee Japan" Qatar (aka Cody) is another fixture of the Rebel Squadrons who has been working hard on maintaining our social media and publishing presence. In the new High Command, Cody will continue this role, but as a Platform Coordinator, bringing all of the folks who want to write, create, or publish in the Rebel Squadrons universe under his auspicies. Cody can always use help with content creation, so if you have any interest at all in such things, contact him for more details.
The makeup of the aldermen on High Command has also changed somewhat. I have appointed Lieutenant Colonel Kimiao Quinal as an alderman, and Admiral Joshua Hawkins has stepped down from his voting role. I'm excited to have Kimiao join the membership of High Command, and I'm looking forward to working with him on improving the Rebel Squadrons. Kimiao joins Admiral Cyrel Vandroth and Lieutenant Commander Rahm Nyko as the other two aldermen, who are continuing in their roles.
I am appointing Lieutenant General Markus Jarnhann and Admiral Tyrell "Spokes" Borran as Special Advisors to the Fleet Commander, so both will continue to sit on the High Command, although in a non-voting role. Markus and Spokes have both been HC members for many years and I value their input, so I am glad to have them on the team.
In terms of the Executive Staff, you've already seen emails from many of them, so this will be only a short introduction. My Executive Officer, Commodore Kirghy Lommax, will be focused on working with the Squadron COs to make the Rebel Squadrons a better place. My Second Officer, Colonel Teu Veld, will be working on some special projects for me, as well as coordinating the efforts of our Executive Staff and serving as a de facto Platform Coordinator for groups that don't really fit anywhere else. Admiral Michael Raven will be heading up the Logistics Office, in charge of fiction and the RS canon, while Admiral Sienn Sconn, as the Operations Officer, will be coordinating the efforts of the Platform Coordinators and promoting various internal and external activities. To round it out, the talented Admiral Licah Fox is serving as Internet Officer, with Admiral Josh Hawkins assisting him.
There are many more things to come, and I am excited for the future of the Rebel Squadrons, but for now I leave you with this: this is our club and our community, and I can't wait to make it better.
