A very special promotion
All,
Over the past few months, I have received numerous nominations to promote one of our officers to the highest rank available in the Rebel Squadrons. As most of you know, the rank of Fleet Admiral has been the highest rank available in the Rebel Squadrons since the late 1990s. Since our club's founding, only 11 people have attained this rank, and of those, only four are active today.
To achieve the rank of Fleet Admiral, an officer must contribute to the advancement of the whole club and serve for at least six months as an Admiral. In addition, the rank is reserved, by both history and tradition, as a recognition of a long and illustrious career as a Rebel Squadrons member. Some notable officers who are Fleet Admirals include the current Arbitrator, Michael Raven; the immediate past Operations Officer, Sienn Sconn; and our current Publishing Coordinator, Cody Qel-Droma.
To this company I am now privileged to add another name - that of my long-time friend and colleague, Licah Fox.
Licah joined the Rebel Squadrons in August 2001 and has served in many roles during his career. He and I flew together as pilots in the Renegade Fleet, a fleet he later commanded. He also served as Commanding Officer of Retribution Fleet, Executive Officer of the Patriot Battle Fleet, and Commanding Officer of numerous squadrons, including Jedi Squadron, FireClaw Squadron, and Phantom Squadron. While he is best known for his lengthy service in the Internet Office, Licah also served as the second Rebel Squadrons Chief of Staff (succeeding myself in the role), an alderman on High Command, and as the Rebel Squadrons Fleet Commander. From a policy perspective, he was influential in the creation of the Council of Justice and the addition of aldermen to High Command.
Much of the modern Rebel Squadrons website can be traced to the work done by Licah over the past years. His service to this club has been legendary, and although he is currently only serving as a regular member, he continues to provide advice, counsel, and assistance to the club whenever he can. After several nominations and prods, it gives me great pleasure to finally recognize my old friend with this promotion.
Admiral Licah Fox, front and center!
Admiral Fox, your service to this club has been nothing short of legendary. The modern RS owes much of its very skeleton to your hard work and tenacity. This final promotion for you is long overdue. By the authority that is vested in me as the Rebel Squadrons Fleet Commander, I am pleased to confer upon you the rank of Fleet Admiral, with all of the rights, privileges, and honors appertaining thereto. Congratulations, Fleet Admiral Fox!
Everyone, please join me in recognizing the new Fleet Admiral! As is traditional, if you find him in the bar (he's the one who's...a fox) the drinks are on him.
Sincerely yours,
Commodore Lamin Zykara
