I: Updates, Activities, and News

Greetings RS!

FA Licah Fox is emerging from his underground burrow to rejoin us as the Modern Gaming Platform Coordinator. As a former FC, IO, and longtime member of the RS we look forward to the experience and wisdom he can bring to the position. He’s also expressed a willingness to help out with the IO office in making some of our website a little less confusing while the IO continues to focus on a new site. Welcome back, Fox!

For those that missed it, 1LT CrazyCarl stepped forward to fill the role as Legacy Gaming Platform Coordinator. If you have any interest in getting involved in building missions for the older Star Wars titles, curating our archive of historical missions, or setting up EaW/Battlefront tournaments, get in touch with him!

CDT Seraphol is looking for anyone else that plays Diablo 3 to start up an RS presence in that game… or just to hang out and kill some monsters! Seraphol can be reached via e-mail at danielstephens01@gmail.com or via his b.net tag at Seraphol#1729.

Along a similar vein, the FC is spending a bit too much time playing WoW lately, but if you’d ever like to join him, feel free to contact him on the b.net. (Cyrel#1299) He’d be more than happy to put up some activity points with another RSer!

ADM Lucas Benoit-Stark (a.k.a. Ironman) has been muttering in the bar and grill that we need to get some fiction going again, and I can’t agree more. If you have any interest at all in writing stories in the SW universe, poke him on IRC and get something going!

Over the course of this session we’ve seen some fairly interesting announcements coming out of the Star Wars gaming universe: Battlefront and Uprising. Battlefront will be a reboot of the popular squad-based battle simulator and it’s trailer looks, for lack of a better word, delicious. You can find it here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwWLns7-xN8 . Meanwhile, Uprising is a new mobile game that’s set to fill in some of the story between RotJ and TFA. You can find out more information at https://playstarwarsuprising.com/ .

As a reminder, the RS maintains a constant chat room presence using the IRC chat service. There are several free chat clients out there you can use, ranging from browser-based to programs. (The FC personally uses mIRC http://www.mirc.com/ .) We’re on the DALnet server and can be found in the #rs_bar_and_grill .

II: ITOD Scores

The RS ITOD is a series of objectives each focused around our more popular activities that are designed to give each member of the RS a set of goals to accomplish over the two month session. What’s more, the Logistics Office uses the participation in each ITOD event to determine how well the RS is doing in its fictional endeavors, which right now includes fighting for it’s life against the new Imperial threat!

The end of session results are finally in, and can be viewed here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1r4xFkWvWhrynZYQ5LoF-uadh_bYUb9ZGK-0-wvDi8y4/edit?usp=sharing

Thank you to all of you who chose to participate in the activities the RS had to offer over the session. The executive staff strives to provide a wide variety of objectives for you to participate in. If you have any comments on what we have done so far or suggestions on what we can do in the future, please do not hesitate to contact the Task Force Leaders or Platform Coordinators handling the activity. We’d love to hear from you!

Each session, we recognize the individuals who managed to complete the greatest number of objectives and earn the most ITOD points. The closest runner up was BGN Kimiao Quinal at 12 points. However, with 16 points, FA Michael Raven takes the cake and is awarded the RS ITOD Top Gun medal for Hammerfall - Operation Dented Shield. Congratulations!

III: Leaderboard Results

Over the course of the session we ask all our members to regularly submit reports on their activity via the ‘Generic Reporter’ (http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/multiplayer/report_mp.php ) which awards them Activity Points on the RS’ Leaderboard (http://www.rebelsquadrons.org/test/?dateSelected=1&date=33 ). Just about anything an RS member does with another RS member can be counted for activity during the session: dogfighting in XWA, strategic battles in EaW, questing in TOR, playing together in public matches on World of Tanks or League of Legends, or even a few matches of yahoo checkers. All is fair game, and all is worth 1 activity point for 15 minutes of gameplay with another RS member. If you’re sporting some kind of RS identifier in a multiplayer game, you can even report that, just because you’re flying the RS’s colors!

However, it’s not just multiplayer gaming that we recognize! Writing short stories or other forms of fiction and contributing to the forums, keeping our Wiki up to date, participating in Trivia events, flying Historical missions, and more are all awarded Activity Points during the session. Basically, if you’re up to anything in the SW Universe or gaming in general, we like to hear about it.

This session, we have SEVERAL members having all breached the 100 point mark on the leaderboard, signifying roughly 25 hours of gaming with fellow RSers or in RS related activities! Hermus Dogan, Jaran “Gunsmoke” Farlance, Joshua Hawkins, Kimiao Quinal, Licah Fox, Michael Raven, and Ray Djo, keep up the great work.

Like the ITOD, we recognize the most active member over the course of the session. At 337 points, BGN Kimiao Quinal secures the RS Activity Top Gun medal for Hammerfall - Operation Dented Shield. Congratulations!

In addition to individual recognition, we celebrate the squad that has managed to not only collectively earn more points then all of their brethren but get the majority of their squadmates reporting as well. This session we saw a fairly close battle between Wildcard, Red, and Resurrection squadrons with barely a 30 point spread between them.

Despite not achieving full participation, the sheer weight of activity presented by Resurrection Squadron has secured them the RS Top Squadron for this session, continuing their winning streak. Excellent work, RZA. Keep it up, as it looks like the other squads are coming for you!

IV: Medals and Awards

FA Michael Raven, please step forward. Over the past session you have excelled at your duties as Arbitrator, overseeing cases involving the highest members of this organization. Your unwavering fairness and thorough investigations are more than ample reason to approve the nomination put forth by the XO, and we hereby award you the Distinguished Service Cross.

Don’t go anywhere, because RA Gavin has this to say: “Raven, your presence in the Star Wars Commander squad has been beyond measure in helping to guide the squad and it's members. There has been a marked improvement in member results from your assistance and tactical guides, and I personally have improved my game play through your suggestions. You have quickly risen to the top of the squad, surpassing other members who have been in the squad far longer. We, as a squad, are all the better for having you amongst us.” You have been nominated for the Iridium Spire for your service to the RS in Star Wars Commander, and we are happy to approve it.

ADM Lucas Benoit-Stark, FA Danny “David Lee Japan” Qatar, LGN Markus Jarnhann, ADM Joshua Hawkins, please join Raven. “For exemplary participation in Star Wars Commander, assisting other members in their defences, and promoting a great community in game.” Gavin has awarded you the Merit Commendation. Excellent work.

CMDR Darth Gumbo and BGN Kimiao Quinal, please step forward. In spite of the recent issues regarding the platform, both of you have stepped forward and shown a willingness to lead RS interests in World of Tanks. Supporting platforms and encouraging activity is one of, if not the most, important duty we can ask of our officers. We are happy to award you both with the Dagger of Courage. Thank you, gentlemen.

ADM Joshua Hawkins, come back. Your recent work streaming your game time on World of Tanks, offering tutorials, and generally advertising the RS has been exemplary. For this effort, we award you the Alvace Star. Keep up the great work!

FA Michael Raven and BGN Kimiao Quinal, attention! For submitting over 200 and 300 World of Tanks matches, respectively, we hereby award you both the Cross of Vigilance. It is humorous to note that the two of you are still the only recipients of this medal, the earlier event being a similar binge of Warframe. May you both continue to play an absurd number of games.

V: Closing

We have experienced a fairly significant uptick in activity over the past couple of sessions and we continue to shout to the world that the RS is still here, and still having fun!

We’ve got mission builders coming back to provide fresh content for the old platforms, more and more people interested in supporting new games, and even some rumbling about getting our fiction divisions rolling again.

Combined with the upcoming SW titles being announced and TFA just around the corner, this promises to be an exciting year for the RS and we look forward to experiencing it with you.

Fight on, RS.

“:)
