Two Lost in Recon Mission
Greeop Sector News Agency
Zhellday | 50:06:04
Two Task Force Republic Shield pilots are missing and presumed dead after a recon mission yesterday in support of the ongoing conflict again the Imperial Remnant Titan Fleet. The pilots were shot down during operations to gather intelligence for coming Republic Shield (RS) operations. A spokesman for the RS headquarters on Greeop confirmed that two pilots were indeed lost during the engagement but praised the pilots for their sacrifice and indicated that the data acquired from the recon mission would prove invaluable in the coming weeks as the RS forces move to counter Titan.
However, anonymous sources indicate that the pilots lost in the engagement are none other than Lucas Benoit-Stark and Cody Qel-Droma, both of the famed Resurrection Squadron. While these sources would not confirm the full parameters of the recon mission, additional reports yesterday from the Imperial Titan News Agency (TNA) revealed that a small complement of rebel fighters suffered multiple casualties while conducting a probe of Lithra’s defenses. While a concrete link between the two instances has yet to emerge, there appears a high probability that Qel-Droma and Benoit-Stark were at least two of the pilots lost over Lithra in this TNA-reported engagement.
The demise of both Qel-Droma and Benoit-Stark would be a major blow to an RS that already finds itself with its back to the wall. A rising dearth of quality RS pilots and soldiers and declining morale from the loss of its aces will not help to reverse this current status quo.
Taking the Fight to the Enemy This Week:
1) Star Wars Interactive Fiction Writing (Zealot). Zealot Special Operations force Has landed on Lithra to conduct covert operation to assist in its liberation. The mission 101 thread is now up on the forums (http://rebelsquadrons.org/forums/viewtopic.php?p=26316#p26316). Read the Zealot posting rules on the wiki (http://wiki.rebelsquadrons.org/index.php?title=Zealot), and feel free to jump in anytime throughout this mission.
2) Simming. The fleet is assaulting Lithra, and is currently engaged with the Lithran Defense Force’s primary flagship -- the Desolator! The current operation is an all out assault on the flagship with infiltrators sabotaging her from the inside out, while the fleet tries to bring the behemoth down. Join the battle Sundays @ 2 PM EST in the #ABG_Sim channel on DalNet!
3) Star Wars: X-Wing Alliance. The main fleet is hitting the core-side of Lithra, but a smaller force needs to hit the Golan 2 on the back-side of the planet. A small raiding party should be able to take it. Fighter wings will fly cover for the assault shuttles:
