Person: FA Cyrel VandrothLoading . . .
Medal: Excellency of Service
Date: February 7, 2018
Nominated by: MGN Kimiao Quinal
Awarded by: MGN Kimiao Quinal
Reason for nomination: As the medal's officer it gives me no greater pleasure than to award this medal to our deserving Fleet Commander. The award itself is our highest award for longevity and distinction. The medal quote states - "God-like"!
I felt it was important for both the promotion and the medal award that the full story completed eloquently by FA Raven to be captured and re-told when people see why these were both awarded.
Congratulations Fleet Admiral, do us proud!
The position of Fleet Commander is perhaps the most thankless job in the Rebel Squadrons. You are expected to do everything, coordinate between a dozen people, handle interpersonal conflicts, participate in things, and take the blame for everything when it goes wrong. Promotions and medals are a small and insignificant way that we show our appreciation, and while they matter, I firmly believe that this… the write-up for said promotion or medal, is far more important.
So,
Admiral Vandroth has been a driving force behind many changes in the RS, and has pushed to bring activity levels back up while taking on several positions that other people have resigned from. He continues to push forward to bring positive change to the RS as a whole, and is perhaps the single most important person behind the scenes keeping things organized and progressing. He still maintains his passion for the RS, regardless of the frustrations and anger felt when things don’t go right, and the fact that he still has such reactions is a testament to the fact he still cares about the organization.
It has been my pleasure to play games, hang out with, and serve in the RS with Cyrel; and it is my honor to announce that High Command has unanimously approved two awards for his service.
First, he is being awarded the ‘Excellency of Service’ medal, the highest commendation award that can be bestowed on someone by High Command, this is to acknowledge his service as Fleet Commander both in his current capacity, and his previous stint.
Second, we are immediately promoting him to the highest rank in the Rebel Squadrons: Fleet Admiral.
I could go into the reasoning for these awards, but I’d rather let a few other people take the floor…
Brigadier General Koah - “As I thought a promotion was a great idea when he stepped down the first time, I will once again state that he not only deserves it but it is just stupid not to give it to him.
Very. Strongly. In favor.
Cheers.”
Vice Admiral Kirghy Lommax - “I think Cyrel should be promoted to Fleet Admiral because he has, through his many years of service, not only participated in RS activities, but has made numerous immeasurable contributions to the RS that have made lasting impacts to the club. On top of this, he has served willingly and with the utmost distinction as the longest serving Fleet Commander in the history of the RS. I can think of no one more deserving of our highest rank.”
Major General Kimiao Quinal - “He's gone above and beyond on two occasions. He's stepped up when the RS were without a captain to steer the ship, twice. I think that his long service and his devotion to want the club to achieve and surpass itself should be recognised. Not to mention he's improved in the man-management aspects and holding people to account, which I think is an area that previously some of the RS leadership have struggled as this is supposed to be a gaming community.”
Lieutenant General Eric Skrevski - "I have known Cyrel for 15/16 years now and he has always pushed to make sure people have fun and helped where he could to promote a fun place to hang out."
Colonel Teu Veld - “Admiral Cyrel Vandroth has shown strong continued dedication to the Rebel Squadrons as shown by the fact he has held the position of Fleet Commander twice now. He has been a member of the club for many years. On top of his continued leadership, he has also become an amazing friend not only in the club but real life as well. Many times in clubs like these it is not who is in charge that makes the biggest impact but those who truly connect with the people of the club and make long-standing friendships and connections with others. As such I want to say thank you to him and give some words on his promotion. Congrats Cyrel, next drinks are on you!”
Admiral Lucas Benoit-Stark - “Cyrel took a job that most wouldn’t take in a million years, but he does it with drive and purpose. He’s been rock solid and thorough, well deserving of recognition for his efforts.”
These are just some of the comments and statements I’ve gotten over the past few days when asking people for their input on these awards. So, there’s just one last thing to say:
Congratulations, and thank you.
-Fleet Admiral Michael Raven, on behalf of High Command.
