Rebel Squadrons
Person: FA Michael Raven
Medal: Iridium Spire

Date: May 4, 2014
Nominated by: FA Sienn "The Rot" Sconn
Awarded by: RA Lamin Zykara
Reason for nomination: When looking for ways to recognize Raven for his work in both the RS and with the ABG, the most difficult hurdle to get over is always "well, what medal HASN'T he been awarded"? I mean, short of creating a new medal for him, what do you award to the guy who's been awarded everything?

The Iridium Spire is "Awarded for achievement in and/or contributions to a member's unit in areas meant to encourage competition and interaction between members. This award is meant for those who are acting as leaders or role models and assisting in the running of the RS, which is a step above merely excelling in activity in the RS."

Raven's work in encouraging interaction among members in the ABG is legendary. Literally, legendary. Everything that has occurred within that unit in the last 10-12 years has had his thumbprints all over it and he has been the driving force behind it. In addition, his recent work as Logistics Officer has allowed us to organize our fictional framework in order to support the goals of the new RSFC on a go-forward basis.

This may not be the biggest medal I could nominate Raven for, but one I feel is eminently deserved.

-ADM Sienn Sconn, RS Operations Officer
Comments by awarding officer: Fleet Admiral Michael Raven, front and center! Raven, to quote the nominating officer, "When looking for ways to recognize Raven for his work in both the RS and with the ABG, the most difficult hurdle to get over is always 'well, what medal HASN'T he been awarded'? I mean, short of creating a new medal for him, what do you award to the guy who's been awarded everything?" I can't disagree with that general assessment. As a neophyte Fleet Commander, I've been continuously floored by Raven's hard work, which has included projects such as creating - and then adjusting for inflation - a pay scale for Rebel Squadrons officers and a budget for the fictional Rebel Squadrons universe. It's daunting to know that someone with Raven's dedication and skills is working for you. In recognition of Raven's work to encourage interaction between members and on the recommendation of Admiral Sienn Sconn, I am pleased to award him the Iridium Spire. Congratulations, Raven!

Reason for nomination: Raven, your presence in the Star Wars Commander squad has been beyond measure in helping to guide the squad and it's members. There has been a marked improvement in member results from your assistance and tactical guides, and I personally have improved my game play through your suggestions. You have quickly risen to the top of the squad, surpassing other members who have been in the squad far longer. We, as a squad, are all the better for having you amongst us.

Reason for nomination: Yeah, I know he doesn’t need it, and probably doesn’t want it. But he deserves to be recognized for it. Members were asked to do their wiki. Not only did Raven do his, he presented the entire storyline to bring us to canon and tie up loose ends so that we, the vets, and the newcomers have an idea as to where to go to. Props MUST be given, as dude could have been doing a million different things.

Reason for nomination: Here we are again. What can be said about this impressive specimen that has not already been covered before?

Since returning to the RS following a brief break, Raven has been demonstrating why I consider him to be the best GM and participant the RPG division has. He has played engaging and interesting characters that the rest of the division enjoys interacting with. He has orchestrated a number of compelling and impactful sims that always leave his players grateful for the experience. Most recently, however, has been what has prompted this commendation:

After being given the tools to do so, Raven has taken it upon himself to completely redo the RPG Division's library which has desperately needed such attention for years. We now have a single unified repository of modern entries reflecting the current ideologies and ruleset of the RPG division. I cannot stress enough how useful a tool this is for the division and wish to thank him accordingly.

Glad to have you back man, and thank you for all that you do.
