(Spoiler alert)

This mission essentially involves you tangling with several waves of 3 T/As while your cruiser slowly lumbers towards hyperspace. While it works fine, and accomplishes its stated goals, there are rough edges that should be shaped up in this mission.

First of all, if you are an absolutely novice pilot and can't even blast a stationary ship, look no further for a mission you can actually complete. All you need to do is call for reinforcements and you immediately win the mission. Shift+s, space, q, space, at any time and you're sitting at the victory screen. I tested this and it works on all difficulties. An incidental finding was that you get 2750 points for a MC on Hard, 250 on Medium, and 0 on Easy, for this mission. It would be more, but the reinforcements cost a certain amount (perhaps 5000?) from your score. Anyway, I see the problem, which is as follows: the cruiser must complete its mission, but you must board it first for storyline purposes, which prevents you from seeing it off to hyperspace and earning the MC. Perhaps trying the "must complete its Primary Mission" goal for the CRS, instead of "survived", would do the trick. There has to be a more elegant solution.

More responses and suggestions:

- The blinking "Scramble" in the briefing was very cool.
- The passenger liner was a nice touch, though I don't understand why it reappears: you'd think they'd want to stay away from a combat zone after realizing what was going on.
- Four messages all saying exactly the same thing (call for reinforcements) is awkward.
- The ISD doesn't fire on you, or maybe I need the ISD patch!
- Nothing attacks the cruiser, so you could easily just fly around and lead the T/As on a merry chase the entire mission. Doesn't the ISD have T/Bs?
- Friendly fighters are all invincible, which is unrealistic, and also don't head home when they're supposed to, though you can give them orders and they'll do it.
- Only T/As attack you, which is fine, but shouldn't the T/Fs and T/Is attack too? They do only if you go after the leader of that respective flight, but otherwise totally ignore you. At least on Hard they should put up more of a fight.
- You can hit q+space to exit, instead of loading up on the CRS before it hypers, letting you keep blasting ships out there.

I did enjoy flying, and liked the challenge of completing all of the bonus goals. One can also complete the mission normally by following directions (ie calling for reinforcements around the 17 minute mark, then landing in the CRS). Obviously, from his notes in the briefing, Castor would have preferred another solution to T/F Benchmark, and I encourage him to find one if he wants to revise the mission.

I also enjoyed the text narrative that accompanies this mission, which is really good and extensive. I highly recommend reading the "Additional Story" found in the .zip file.

Hard mission, but enjoyable one. A shame I could not understand how and when the TIE Benchmark appears.

A straightforward mission, but be ready to flex your survival skills from time to time.
